Job description
The role
We are expanding our industrialization capabilities and are looking for a Senior Process Engineer with experience in powder metallurgy technologies to join our Factory Engineering team in Amsterdam. - Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Process or Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering field.
- Experience: 6-9 years of experience in mechanical, process, or manufacturing engineering roles within heavy industrial or advanced production environments.
- Project Delivery: Proven track record of leading process engineering projects and taking technical ownership of complex manufacturing lines from conceptual design through to commissioning and stable high-volume production.
- Methodological Expertise: Strong foundation in creating and implementing engineering methodologies and utilizing structured problem-solving tools.
- Vendor Management: Deep practical experience in defining equipment specifications, managing international equipment suppliers and overseeing equipment acceptance testing.

What They Do
Ore Energy B.V. is a young, private energy storage company focused on developing iron-air batteries for long-duration grid storage. Their technology uses iron, water, and air instead of lithium or cobalt, distinguishing them as a battery technology developer specializing in multi-day storage of up to 100 hours (source: linkedin.com). The company positions itself as a spin-off from TU Delft and aims to commercialize systems that enable long-term energy storage, featuring a fully European supply chain and non-toxic, abundant materials (source: bundestagszusammenfasser.de). Their technology is designed to support grid operators, energy companies, and large energy consumers such as data centers in bridging periods of low sun and wind, where conventional lithium-ion batteries are not economically viable for such long storage durations (source: newswire.com).
Projects & Track Record
In July 2025, Ore Energy commissioned the world’s first grid-connected iron-air battery in Delft, which they describe as the first long-duration storage system of this type within the European Union (source: bundestagszusammenfasser.de). In June 2026, the company announced an agreement with Dutch energy supplier Budget Thuis for the delivery of 1 GWh of iron-air storage, starting with an initial phase of 400 MWh planned for 2028 (source: newswire.com). This deal is considered the largest iron-air energy storage purchase in continental Europe and the first with a European energy supplier (source: newswire.com). Additionally, Ore Energy has been involved in pilot projects with the French energy supplier EDF, highlighting their growing international collaborations (source: linkedin.com).
Recent Developments
In August 2026, Ore Energy raised $43 million in a Series A funding round led by Plural and HV Capital with participation from Positron Ventures, bringing total funding to over $61 million (source: tech.eu). This investment supports the construction of their first manufacturing facility aiming for gigawatt-hour scale production by 2028 (source: ess-news.com). Furthermore, in June 2026, the significant commercial agreement with Budget Thuis for 1 GWh of storage capacity was announced (source: newswire.com). In May 2026, the company provided written evidence to a German parliamentary process confirming its founding in 2023 and the milestone of grid connection in 2025 (source: bundestagszusammenfasser.de).
Working There
Ore Energy recruits professionals for commercial, technical, and project execution roles, including positions such as Energy Systems Modeling Lead and Project Development & Delivery Manager (source: linkedin.com). These roles sit at the intersection of commercial strategy, project development, and execution, requiring proficiency in both Dutch and English (source: linkedin.com). With offices in Amsterdam and Delft, the company offers a dynamic startup environment focused on scaling its first commercial projects and production (source: linkedin.com).
