Looking for a role which is actively contributing to tackling climate change? Want to work with world-leading, cutting-edge technology? We are looking for an enthusiastic and capable laboratory manager to join our team.

The Sustainable Aviation Fuels Innovation Centre (SAF-IC) and Translational Energy Research Centre (TERC) are brand new state-of-the-art, innovation-focused research centres based at the University of Sheffield Innovation District. TERC is a national demonstrator facility for research, development and innovation of zero-, low-carbon and renewable energy technologies, including being able to synthesise alternative fuels. SAF-IC includes a laboratory for testing and characterising aviation fuels to ASTM standards, focussing on pre-screening and Tier-1 and Tier-2 fuel specification and property testing.

In this role, you will manage the laboratories and analytical equipment at both centres, support technical and research staff and have a key role in establishing and maintaining ISO: 9001 and ISO: 17025 management systems. You will also work to establish the SAF-IC laboratory as a UK SAF Clearing House recognised testing facility.

In return, we offer a competitive salary, flexible working, a generous pension scheme and annual leave entitlement, as well as access to a range of learning and development courses to support your personal and professional development.

We are committed to exploring flexible working opportunities which benefit the individual and University.

We’re one of the best not-for-profit organisations to work for in the UK. The University’s Total Reward Package includes a competitive salary, a generous Pension Scheme and annual leave entitlement, as well as access to a range of learning and development courses to support your personal and professional development.

We build teams of people from different heritages and lifestyles from across the world, whose talent and contributions complement each other to greatest effect. We believe diversity in all its forms delivers greater impact through research, teaching and student experience.
