As a trapped-ion development engineer, you will join our highly motivated international team and enable the industrialization of trapped-ion quantum computing in collaboration with our customers and academic partners. To that end, you will drive our activities on integrated photonics for trapped-ion quantum computing. This comprises the development, fabrication and characterization of photonic building blocks and integrating them into our quantum processors. Use this opportunity and apply now!

In your new role you will:

  • Drive technology development for trapped-ion quantum processors, with focus on integrated photonic circuits
  • Contribute to defining optical interfaces between the ion trap chip and external control optics
  • Be responsible for internal technology development projects as well as research projects with academic and commercial partners
  • Supervise master and PhD students

You are best equipped for this task if you:

  • Are a highly motivated individual who wants quantum computing to become a reality
  • Have a PhD in physics, quantum engineering, photonics or similar
  • Bring 3+ years of experience in quantum optics or integrated optics
  • Have experience in the field of trapped-ion quantum computing or semiconductor manufacturing is an additional plus
  • Are fluent in English, German skills or willingness to learn it as additional advantage

We offer competitive salaries and additional benefits based on your performance, experience and qualification. The employment is in accordance with the collective salary and wage agreement for employees of the electrical and electronics industry, employment group G. The monthly salary is paid 14 times p.a. We offer a higher compensation depending on your expertise and skills. More than 5.000 people work at five different sites in Austria.
