About the role

DNV is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Project Electrical Engineer to join our Taiwan team. This role will be a contract position in Taipei, Taiwan for an initial engagement of 12 months. He/she shall be the based at the Customer’s premise and working closely with the DNV team providing advisory services.

As the Project Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting the various work packages associated with the development of a solar and/or offshore wind farm and supporting the local and regional team in various renewable advisory services.

Job activities will include:

  • Project daily work: It is expected that the Electrical Engineer will be involved in technical advisory services for all electrical elements of the solar and/or offshore wind farm project under development. This will include reviewing design and construction of the project as well as safety considerations. The work operation may include offshore construction monitoring, assessment of the project performance, site inspections and assessment of project management. The Electrical Engineer will prepare and deliver technical reports, presentations and discuss methodologies and results with the internal Project Team and the Client;
  • Owner’s Engineering and project development support
  • Conduct detailed technical review and independent assessment of electrical related construction documentation including:
    • Plans and specifications
    • Design calculations and studies
    • Construction submittals
    • Test documentation
    • QA/QC documentation
    • Inspection and Test Plans
    • Electrical related drawings and calculations
    • Electrical commissioning plan
  • Conduct construction monitoring inspections of projects to verify compliance with:
    • Construction plans and specifications, geotechnical reports
    • Applicable code requirements and standards and good construction practice
  • Support Construction Management activities through monitoring/management of costs, progress, contract interface, and quality programs, and facilitation of construction problem resolution
  • Write detailed reports of reviews and inspections.

Safety Competence

  • A General Offshore Safety Competence (GWO), or open to attend training, or equivalent.
  • Working at Height & Rescue Training - Wind Turbines (GWO), or open to attend training.
  • Medical Certificate of Seafarer (STCW)Technical Competency, or equivalent
  • Must be able to use common construction personal protective equipment, walk over uneven terrain, climb ladders
  • Ability to walk over rough or slippery terrain as experienced on heavy construction sites
  • Willingness to work in inclement weather conditions on occasion

Travel

  • Normally based in Project office in Taipei city.
  • Willingness and ability to travel within Taiwan
  • Valid driver's license and comfortable in driving long distances (>300 km), alone or accompanied.

About you

Education and Experience:

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree required in Electrical Engineering. Specific experience with offshore and onshore electrical works will be looked upon favourably.
  • Minimum of 2 years of Professional Experience in the offshore wind sector.
  • Experience in Electrical design for MV or LV networks.

Qualified candidates are expected to demonstrate most of the following technical competency items:

  • Experience in LV and MV electrical equipment design.
  • Experience in project acceptance tests and commissioning procedures for LV and MV electrical equipment (Equipment test data review).
  • Experience may also include a working knowledge of offshore cabling regulations, codes and standards;
  • Project management skills and desired previous experience.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, and familiar with Gant Charts (MS Project).
  • Languages: must have excellent written and verbal communications skills, including ability to write clear and detailed technical reports, presentations and emails in English and Mandarin (mandatory).

Fundamental Qualifications:

  • Previous renewable energy, offshore wind consulting, construction or operation experience or credentials.
  • Written and verbal English and Chinese communication skills, comfortable addressing groups.
  • Proven HSE mindset
  • Self-starter, quick learner, takes initiative and ownership.
  • Excellent organization skills and attention to detail.
  • High level of integrity and confidentiality.
  • Ability to fit within team and comfortable with working independently for certain periods.
  • Able to work effectively and professionally with diverse people – clients and co-workers.
