Job description
EDF Renewables is currently developing wind project opportunities in Australia. As a response to that, EDF Renewables Australia is looking for a:
PROJECT DIRECTOR - WIND (M/F)
You will be in charge of overseeing major wind projects from conception and early development through to financial close with a significant commercial focus
Your responsibilities:
- Lead EDFR Australia flagship project to financial close and beyond, including managing the different workstreams including development, technical, procurement, financing, insurance, legal etc.
- Lead project teams to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
- Develop and implement project plans and manage the project lifecycle from conception and early development through to financial close.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal project teams, external stakeholders, and local communities.
- Identify and manage project risks, ensuring that appropriate risk management strategies are in place to mitigate risks and manage issues as they arise.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements and standards and with the Development Approval, EPBC and other secondary approvals.
- Oversee the project contracting and procurement and manage contracts effectively, ensuring compliance with company guidelines, regulatory requirements, and standards.
- Ensure that the highest standards of health, safety and environmental management are maintained across all projects.
- Communicate project objectives, risks, and opportunities to a range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Implement and manage quality management systems across projects, ensuring that project deliverables meet the required quality standards.
- Oversee the Owner’s Engineer activities
- Ensure contractor compliance with relevant project permits
- Ensure a suitable quality management system is implemented
- Compile regular reports and presentations to key stakeholders (e.g. steering committee, project board, investment decision board, off-taker etc.)
Qualifications and experience
Experience: At least 15 years’ project development experience in renewable energy, specifically in wind and through a strong technico-commercial lens.
Education : A degree in engineering, project management or a related field.
Languages: English; French fluency an advantage
Qualities sought :
- Proven success leading wind development projects and reaching key milestones, in Australia.
- Strong knowledge of project management principles and techniques.
- Solid commercial acumen with the ability to manage budgets, financial risks, and other commercial aspects of project delivery.
- Proven ability to identify and manage risks associated with projects.
- Knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements and standards.
- Experience managing and developing project teams.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships.
- Ability to work well under pressure, manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines.
- Demonstrated commitment to health, safety and environmental management.
