Careers at Helion Energy

We are a fusion power company based in Everett, WA, with the mission to build the world's first fusion power plant, enabling a future with unlimited clean electricity. Our vision is a world with clean, reliable, and affordable energy for everyone.

Since Helion's founding in 2013, we have raised over $600 million from investors such as Sam Altman, Mithril, and Capricorn Investment Group to propel us forward. Our last prototype, Trenta, completed 10,000 high-power pulses and reached plasma temperatures of 100 million degrees Celsius (9 keV).

Now we are working toward Polaris, which will be the first machine to demonstrate electricity from fusion, making this a great time to join Helion! Bring your skills, experiences, and determination to make a difference in the world. Together, we can make a future with unlimited clean electricity from fusion a reality.

What You Will Be Doing

Helion is hiring a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to design, implement, and optimize the production process for in-house capacitors. This is a unique opportunity to collaborate with other teams (supply chain, production, engineering, test operations), directly influence the commissioning timeline for Polaris, Helion’s next generator, and lay the groundwork for Helion’s transition to generator mass-manufacturing. You will bring a data-driven approach to large-scale challenges optimizing the Polaris production timeline and influencing the future of Helion. You will report to the Senior Manager of Capacitor Manufacturing at our Everett, WA location.

The role may expand based on interests and performance; initial responsibilities will include:

  • Design and implement rate-based assembly processes with support from production and engineering
  • Own and manage interdisciplinary projects to increase rate and throughput of capacitor line (i.e. floor layout, tooling, build cells, large-scale equipment, etc.)
  • Help develop new business processes such as non-conformance management, process control, process safety, asset maintenance, etc. to grow production line and build the foundation for high-volume production
  • Gather data (labor hours, cycle times, fallout, etc.) to identify production bottlenecks, and propose and deploy solutions (design changes, process changes, equipment, automation, etc.)
  • Identify high return-on-investment capabilities, including capital equipment and software capabilities that improve manufacturing processes (partnering with production, finance, operations, and facilities teams)
  • Collaborate on development of future processes in parallel with supporting and enabling higher output on current production line

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, with 6 years of technical work experience that includes development and improvement of production systems
  • Hands-on engineering or manufacturing experience in rate-based and high-volume manufacturing
  • Experience communicating with and influencing partners across organizational lines
  • Experience in cradle-to-grave ownership of complex engineering or production scopes

The pay range for this position is $135k - $175k/yr. This pay range may be inclusive of several career levels and will be narrowed based on several factors, including the candidate’s experience and qualifications.

Benefits and Compensation

Our total compensation package includes generous equity and benefits, including but not limited to:
