How will you make a difference?

  • The Senior Tender Manager is part of the PM (Project Management) function and supports the organisation to deliver its aim to be a profitable company by working as the functional Lead for Tender management within the UK&IE region. This functional lead role means taking the responsibility for Tender management within the region managing workload and prioritization with colleagues (e.g. Head of Sales). It also means representing the UK&IE region in the Divisional Tender management community, working with other Lead Tender managers from the other regions to share best practice and drive continuous improvement within the function.
  • The Senior Tender Manager will also be responsible for projects and will work as part of the extended sales team and with the customer to develop a project execution strategy and programme that is competitive and executable as budgeted, planned and contracted.
  • They demonstrate that they are able to navigate the organisation to bring solutions to issues.
  • They are able to deliver successful proposals for the most complex projects and understand the impacts on the wider business on the proposals they make and in how they assess the risks of the projects.
  • They also take the initiative to implement and drive continuous improvement within tender management team.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Senior Tender Manager is the functional Lead in UKIE region and will be required to go on business trips within Europe
  • Responsible for gaining necessary approvals for the projects worked on and coordinating approvals where necessary for the other tender managers in the region, in good time, from within the PM function, in accordance with the PM approval process and organisational sales project approval process. Develop and define the delivery, installation and takeover strategy for the wind farm
  • Work with internal functions to deliver a competitive and realistic project budget (project team, site infrastructure, logistics, crane and installation, commissioning, balance of plant)
  • Develop and deliver a project programme (Aligned internally and externally)
  • Produce a resource plan where resources have been secured (either internally or externally) and accurately budgeted.
  • Produce clear, agreed project scope (aligned internally, with the customer and with suppliers)
  • Manage the contract risk evaluation and risk and opportunity management plan during the sales phase of the project for the PM scope.
  • Ensure work is documented to enable handover to project execution team

Other tasks:

  • Assess and evaluate transport strategy
  • Plan and prepare project execution concept, including the contractual time schedule.
  • Interact closely with Global Planning Office & Global Sourcing to ensure that the project programme is achievable
  • Review customer and subcontractor contracts and attend contract negotiations
  • Review and agree testing and Taking-Over requirements (and ensure that this is reflecting in the planning/budgeting)
  • Prepare for and present project at project approval committee (Project Approval Board: PBM)
  • Support the Sales Manager in the Sales to Projects Handover
  • Secure competitive balance between scope of works, program, contractual risk and cost budget

Qualifications

You will succeed in the this role if you have the following:

  • Project management experience necessary (preferably in the wind energy sector and/or in turnkey construction projects)
  • Professional experience in comparable positions working on multi-million EUR contracts with strong commercial and financial acumen
  • Experience of working with administering/negotiating contracts including knowledge of standard construction contract forms would be advantageous
  • Good knowledge and appreciation of the local regulations and legal requirements regarding construction works and HS&E
  • Technical background with a Bachelors or Master’s degree in Engineering or equivalent work experience.
  • High level of competence in Project Planning software (e.g. MS project or Primavera)
  • Excellent English language skills
