Business Development Manager - Biogenic Co2
Lead business development activities for Biogenic CO2 in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Shape STX's global presence in renewable products. Engage with stakeholders, drive opportunities, and build partnerships.
At STX it is our ambition to become the leading global environmental commodity trader and we are well on our way. We perceive building out our presence across all environmental commodity value chains of paramount strategic importance in achieving this ambition. In this role, you will head up our business development activity for Biogenic CO2 to continue shaping STX’s value proposition in this space. Initially, you would engage with the key stakeholders STX already partnered with in the last months, making sure existing deadlines are met and upcoming milestones for the project are kept under focus. Moreover, you would continue building relationships with key (commercial) stakeholders and clients, mostly in the midstream (ie. logistics/transport) segment of the industry. You would then take the lead in driving concrete opportunity identification (e.g. trade structures, investments, strategic partnerships/JVs), outlining business cases, structuring, and leading negotiations, closing the transactions and setting up our business for success; all in close collaboration with our broader front-office and policy/analysis teams, both within the Renewable Gas and Voluntary Carbon desks. This is a truly unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping our global presence for one of the most promising renewable products currently being developed.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the existing and prioritized Biogenic CO2 business development opportunities (in some cases, identify and deliver more complex investments and/or partnership structures)
- Solve midstream issues when developing deal structures for prospective clients and, in general, develop STX role within the overarching EU bio-CO2 infrastructure.
- Continue building and managing relationships with key external (political & commercial) and internal (different front-office desks involved & policy/research) stakeholders.
- Continue defining STX role and position when engaging with EU decision-makers and regulatory/policy representatives within key EU/national institutions.
- Lead commercial negotiations with existing potential partners/counterparties and structure the trades/deals.
- Lay out various options for mid- to long-term trading strategy in the Biogenic CO2 space and build business cases for new trade structures/investments/partnerships.
- Working with and coordinating amongst the broader Renewable Gas Business Development team, alongside senior leadership (managing partners) to ensure alignment and buy-in on business development activities.
- Hire and onboard team-members to further develop this opportunity (where feasible).
Key Requirements
- Energy (trading) industry and/or sustainability background; ideally with exposure to (environmental) commodity trading and/or technical/industrial gases sales, with at least 5-8 years of work experience
- Experience as a business developer or originator, ideally within technical/industrial gases or renewable space, would be preferred.
- Experience in working with regulatory driven market, alongside experience in engaging directly with decision-makers and with regulators.
- Any experience within European Institutions or interest/lobbying groups would be highly beneficial.
- Proven track-record of setting up or independently growing a business / new product line and negotiation (complex) partnerships.
- Strong strategic and commercial mindset to support shaping longer-term vision and drive potential shorter-term opportunities.
- Ability and experience to grow within and eventually manage an international team, potentially located in different offices.
- Self-propelling and entrepreneurial.
