Job Description
The Lead Surveyor will provide a strong leadership presence to the Site Survey team and will set the standard for quality and production. The Lead Surveyor will provide training to new hires and established auditors to ensure that processes are being implemented correctly and Company resources are being protected. In addition, the Lead Surveyor will use their skills and experience to perform particularly difficult audits that demand their expertise.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Travel to project sites to obtain information necessary to complete technical design documents for a solar system
- Create detailed rooftop map layout for solar arrays including roof layout dimensions and all roof penetrations (pipes, vents etc.)
- Collect detailed shading data using a Solmetric Sun Eye
- Develop a positive relationship with customers to establish rapport and to gather facilities assessment data as needed
- Conduct a physical site audit using auditing tools including a tablet PC, measuring devices, Solmetric equipment, a digital camera, and other related equipment
- Prepare & upload site audit documents as needed to coordinate with the design/engineering department to produce permit-ready documents within 24 hours of Site Audit
- Follow Freedom Forever Standard Operating Procedures for Site Audit to ensure a smooth handoff between departments
- Provide and maintain a current driver's license and a clean driving record to safely operate a Company vehicle
- Develop relationships with sales team, design professionals and subcontractors to support the business activities
- Train all new hires for the Site Survey Technician (SST) position
- Scheduled for difficult/skill appropriate Site Audits by the Regional Survey Supervisor (RSS), providing training to SSTs when possible, to broaden their skillset
- Flexible with scheduling to be able to fulfill any appointments if an SST is unable to complete their scheduled day
- Provides ongoing training to SSTs as deemed necessary by the RSS
- Available to assist on steep roofs, large systems, etc. when two SSTs would be needed
- Works with RSS to ensure quality and production standards are upheld
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualification Requirements
Education & Certifications
- High School Graduate or GED
- Trade School degree in a discipline related to construction or building sciences, engineering or architecture is preferred
Experience
- A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a discipline related to construction or building sciences, estimating or site auditing experience
- Solar installation experience is preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Ability to understand, read, and comprehends contract documents, plans and written and verbal communication skills required to prepare site audit documents and conduct site audit meetings with customers
