Job Description
We are looking for a diligent FIB/SEM Technician Intern for our failure analysis, physical characterization, and process development work. Our ideal team member is a skilled, meticulous microscopist, who can work independently and efficiently in large teams, and is capable of driving projects to completion ahead of schedule.
Responsibilities
- FIB/SEM operation for high-volume analysis of samples while delivering high-quality images to meet efficiency goals with minimal errors.
- Responsible for preparing samples; entering and/or uploading data and interpreting and editing test requests.
- Monitor and record key parameters during tests and apply "on your feet" critical problem skills to consistently deliver reliable, valuable test results.
- Maintain a clear, concise shift passdown, lab notebook, and equipment maintenance records and work with databases.
Minimum Requirements
- Currently pursuing an AA or equivalent in Electron Microscopy or related technical program.
- Candidates must be able to work a minimum of 20 hours per week with some scheduling flexibility around coursework.

- You are organized, detail-oriented and a have clear written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to working into evenings, weekends, and flexibility to cover shift gaps on short notice.
Physical Requirements
Work is performed in a dry room, fume hood, or glovebox requiring the use of fine motor skills and standing for extended periods of time, reaching and twisting motions with hands, and lifting up to 25 lbs.
Preferred
- Within 1 year of AA degree completion in Electron Microscopy or related technical program.
- Experience with chemical handling, sample preparations, and hazardous waste disposal.
- Experience working with a Li-ion battery or analytical test lab.
- Experience preparing samples in an inert environment, such as glovebox operations, sample preparation (e.g. electrode depositions).
- Experience with analytical tools and techniques (optical microscopy, ion milling, XCT).
This role is required to work onsite at our campus in San Jose, CA
Compensation & Benefits
QuantumScape offers a competitive rate commensurate with experience and background, a comprehensive benefits package, and an excellent opportunity for growth. Base hourly rate will be $22.79-$28.51 per hour
