Job Description

The Wind Technician position at EDF Renewables North America involves performing maintenance and repairs on wind turbines. The role is available at multiple levels, including Advanced, Senior, and Lead, each with increasing responsibilities and qualifications. Technicians will work on-site in Livermore, CA, and are expected to ensure the safe and efficient operation of wind energy systems while adhering to company procedures and safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform unsupervised maintenance on wind turbines and train less experienced technicians (Advanced level).
  • Understand and follow procedures and service manuals safely (Advanced level).
  • Perform basic troubleshooting (Advanced level).
  • Lead a two-person crew and prioritize daily work activities (Senior level).
  • Perform repairs and replacements of components (Senior level).
  • Provide training to Advanced and entry-level technicians (Senior level).
  • Assist the Site Manager in daily work execution (Lead level).
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics and perform troubleshooting (Lead level).

Requirements

  • Education or experience related to wind turbine maintenance and repair.
  • Six months to one year experience performing maintenance on wind turbines or related industry.
  • Skilled in the use of electrical test equipment for maintenance purposes.
  • Understanding of fastener types, torquing techniques, lubrication, and wind turbine components.
  • Able to read and interpret schematics and technical data.
  • One year minimum experience on wind turbine maintenance and repair (Senior level).
  • Knowledge of protection devices, control devices, power suppliers, loads, conductors, transducers, and communication systems of wind turbines (Senior level).
  • 2-4 years' experience working in the wind-energy or solar industry (Lead level).
  • Strong computer skills, including creating spreadsheets and reports using Microsoft Software Programs and SAP (Lead level).
  • Ability to work with heights, including climbing and descending towers of various heights.
