Job Description

The HSEQ Manager is the regional focal point for providing professional leadership, support and direction on all HSEQ matters within North America. This role is responsible for the management and development of the regional HSEQ team and the implementation of effective HSEQ strategies and practices that align with FairWind’s global standards, local legislation and customer expectations. The HSEQ Manager will support field and corporate operations, monitor performance, drive continuous improvement and foster a proactive HSEQ culture across all projects and offices in the region.

Your Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 5-7 years of HSEQ leadership experience in renewable energy, construction or industrial sectors.
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA, ANSI, CSA and other relevant safety standards.
  • Experience across U.S. and Canadian jurisdictions strongly preferred.
  • Chartered health and safety professional designation preferred.
  • Trained HSEQ auditor and experienced in incident investigation.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Skilled in management system implementation and transformational change.

Your Role

Strategic & Operational Leadership

  • Lead the management and development of the North America HSEQ team to ensure appropriate support for operational success.
  • Promote positive leadership, set standards and drive transformational change in HSEQ practices and culture.
  • Ensure the HSEQ team has the competencies necessary to meet evolving operational demands.
  • Oversee the implementation and achievement of regional HSEQ plans, objectives and targets.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, site leads and global HSEQ peers to align best practices and ensure consistency.

Compliance & System Development

  • Ensure adherence to applicable national (OSHA, EPA, CSA etc.) and international legislation and standards.
  • Support continuous development of the Integrated Management System (IMS).
  • Facilitate assurance and audit processes to monitor and improve compliance and effectiveness.
  • Oversee contractor compliance with FairWind HSEQ standards.
  • Maintain up-to-date performance metrics and communicate insights to senior leadership.

Communication & Engagement

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies, clients and external auditors.
  • Represent FairWind in external HSEQ forums and deliver internal updates and lessons learned.
  • Support development and maintenance of the HSEQ culture through education, engagement and monitoring.

Incident Management & Risk Assessment

  • Lead incident investigations and facilitate non-conformance review forums regionally.
  • Conduct root cause analyses and implement corrective/preventative actions.
  • Monitor supplier performance and recommend improvements as needed.
