Natron Energy is seeking a highly-motivated Senior Cell Development Engineer to support high-volume cell design optimization. The engineer will support Natron’s effort to ramp a high-quality cell design to scale. This role will require intimate coordination between cell design, cell manufacturing, and process engineering to characterize and optimize tradeoffs between design performance and equipment process capabilities. The ideal candidate is hard-working, team-oriented, and fosters a can-do culture in the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver data-driven design specifications based on tolerance stack-up analysis, directly informed by process capabilities.
- Propose and lead efforts to improve design performance variation based on characterization of manufacturing variation through DOEs and data analysis.
- Support cell performance (e-chem, thermals, and mechanical) characterization and test planning of existing and future cell designs.
- Support cell component qualification test planning and execution.
Minimum Qualifications
- B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Material Science, or similar.
- 3+ years of experience in cell engineering, manufacturing, or development.
- In-depth knowledge of conventional battery technology, materials, and cell manufacturing processes.
- Basic familiarity with CAD (Solidworks), stage-gate development processes, and FMEA.
- Demonstrable experience in design optimization based on analysis of production datasets and/or controlled DOEs.
- Fundamental understanding of key statistics principles including ANOVA, regression, & DOE and demonstrable experience in data-driven decision making.
- Expertise with statistical tools to expedite analysis (ex. JMP, Minitab, R, Python)
- Familiarity with cell performance characterization methods and test planning including PITT/GITT, Ragone, EIS, etc.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to rationalize and juggle competing priorities and requests.
- Excellent technical communication skills with the ability to prepare documentation and presentations that synthesize complex technical information into actionable learnings and results.

- In addition, Natron Energy has a strong benefits package including Medical, Dental, Vision, 401k Plan with Match, Life Insurance, Parental Leave Benefits, Discretionary Time Off (DTO) and Paid Time Off (PTO) for Exempt and Non-Exempt employees respectively, and 11 paid holidays.
- The hiring range for this position is $157,000k - $166,050K DOE
