Job Description

ScottishPower are hiring a Learning Partner to join our People & Organisation function. This is a newly created role where you’ll be instrumental to our cultural change ambitions and our transition to a skills-based organisation.

Reporting to the Head of Organisational Capability, you’ll be aligned to specific business areas to focus on growing the right blend of skills and behaviours in our people and leaders whilst working in partnership with a range of colleagues to influence, inspire and drive change.

What you’ll be doing

Taking a holistic approach to learning, development and growth, you’ll identify key and strategic learning needs, create learning programmes and plans, oversee the delivery of these plans for your business area ensuring benefits realisation and that the P&O function skills initiatives are well aligned to Group and local business priorities.

As Learning Partner, you’ll be responsible for but not limited to:

  • Identify strategic skills and learning needs through proactive stakeholder engagement and understanding of business goals.
  • Participate in key business meetings to stay updated on priorities and provide valuable insights.
  • Assess business performance and develop strategies to support business objectives, focusing on root causes and effective solutions.
  • Define integrated learning plans aligned with local and global priorities, regulations, and policies.
  • Design and implement skill frameworks with clear learning pathways for critical skills.
  • Provide consultancy support to stakeholders for developing solutions aligned with business plans.
  • Collaborate with peers to shape scalable initiatives and resources for the business.
  • Scope and direct development of learning solutions and sign off final content with experts.
  • Explore innovative learning methods and benchmark against external standards.
  • Contribute to tender processes to drive value and efficiency.
  • Plan and monitor delivery of learning plans ensuring quality and effectiveness.
  • Measure outcomes and evaluate impact of learning solutions, iterating for improvement.
  • Strengthen coaching and feedback capabilities across the business.
  • Promote ownership of learning ensuring employees have personal development plans.
  • Embed learning into engagement and performance management practices.
  • Support knowledge management infrastructure and promote a collaborative culture.

What you’ll bring

If you have proven experience as a Learning Partner, creating integrated learning plans across diverse roles and managing their delivery, in a large and complex organisation, then we want to hear from you.

We are looking for candidates who have a delivery focussed mindset, able to create comprehensive project plans, define scope, set realistic timelines and manage resources effectively to meet a varied and challenging workload whilst producing high quality results. Particularly, candidates with technical skills to diagnose performance gaps, create integrated learning plans, apply effective learning solutions to needs and robustly evaluate outcomes to demonstrate value.

Experience of strategic learning needs analysis with an understanding of the full learning cycle and the range of blended delivery options available, alongside creating strategic partnerships is sought. Experience in project management methodologies would be advantageous, preferably in an agile environment.

You’ll have strong commercial acumen and analytical skills to undertake root cause analysis and identify areas for improvement/opportunities for new learning solutions using value-adding data analysis skills to drive data-driven decision making for managing risks and resolving challenges.

You’ll be a self-starter who can manage their own performance and lead and motivate teams, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment. You’ll have excellent stakeholder management skills and be able to influence and negotiate at all levels, as well as sound judgement with the ability to determine priorities, managing expectations and risks.
