Skeleton's Production department is looking for a driven Senior Welding Engineer (m/f/x) with the vision to match our ambition!

Skeleton Technologies is seeking an experienced Senior Welding Engineer (m/f/x) to join our dynamic team. This position offers a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where your insights will contribute directly to the success of the overall company!

Our ultimate goal with Skeleton is to build a net zero future, and our role is to make sure the world is aware of how we can help save energy, cut fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, and enable the energy transition.

Your tasks in the net zero journey

  • Lead the development and optimisation of laser welding processes for electrode connections, tab welding, and casing assemblies.
  • Design, test, and implement robust and scalable joining solutions for both cell-level and module-level production.
  • Collaborate with R&D, design engineering, and production teams to define joining strategies and select appropriate technologies.
  • Create and validate process parameters, welding schedules, and quality control protocols.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for welding-related manufacturing issues.
  • Evaluate and qualify new welding equipment, automation tools, and joining materials.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase throughput, reduce defects, and ensure consistent weld quality.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards related to welding and joining processes.
  • Mentor junior engineers and technicians, providing technical training and guidance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Welding Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in industrial welding, with a strong focus on laser welding in high-precision applications.
  • Proven track record in process development and scaling up welding operations for mass production.
  • Hands-on experience with Nd:YAG, fiber laser, or diode laser systems, including optics, beam delivery, and weld monitoring.
  • Knowledge of other joining technologies, such as: Ultrasonic welding; Resistance spot welding; Mechanical joining (e.g., riveting, clinching); Adhesive bonding (desirable).
  • Familiarity with materials commonly used in energy storage, such as aluminum, copper, stainless steel, and various polymers.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Proficiency in CAD software and data analysis tools.
  • Excellent communication skills in English; German language skills are an advantage.
