Job Description

The Engineering Site Visit Technician (ESV Technician) is vital in ensuring the safe and successful design and installation of residential and small commercial solar electric systems. Working independently, the ESV Technician will compile valuable notes, measurements, photos, and videos of project sites for use by the design team, electricians and installers. New techs receive on the job training to obtain their drone pilot’s license and fly the drone during most site visits. The ESV Tech will work in Massachusetts and New Hampshire using a company vehicle. Individuals living in western or central MA or southern NH are encouraged to apply. Individuals in this position receive extensive training and have opportunities to work within different areas of the company.

Responsibilities & Essential Functions

  • Successful completion of the 107 Drone Pilots license to safely operate a drone following FAA regulations.
  • Take thorough written, photo, and video documentation of project sites.
  • Take and record accurate measurements of a variety of structures and spaces.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with customers and colleagues.
  • Use basic math skills to make computations in the field.
  • Complete reports and upload documentation to the computer.

Skills/Qualifications

  • Must complete, acquire, and maintain 107b Drone Pilots license and thereafter safely operate a drone following FAA regulations.
  • Must possess a valid State Driver’s License and complete and clear an MVR (motor vehicle report) background screen and be able to successfully drive a company vehicle for work related purposes.
  • Able to comfortably and safely climb ladders, work on a variety of rooftops, and work in attics and other tight spaces.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Time management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to work in extreme environments (heat and cold).
  • Willing to work a flexible schedule.
  • A high level of professionalism and a positive demeanor.
  • Ability to work independently, while also thriving in a team.
  • Willingness to work overtime hours, as needed.
  • Previous construction experience or previous experience installing or working with photovoltaic systems (Preferred).

Physical Requirements

  • Comfortable working extended hours in extreme environments/climate (cold, heat, wind, etc) (frequent).
  • Regularly encounter pitched roofs, at heights (with proper safety gear).
  • Prolonged periods of walking, standing, and lifting (frequent).
  • Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 50-75 lbs. at a time (frequent).
  • Must be able to transport and drive for short and long distances for work related events/job sites.

Compensation & Benefits

  • This is a full-time position with an expected starting base pay rate of $18.00 ??? $21.00 per hour (over time eligible), with additional opportunities for pay increases through training completion (90 days) and based on performance.
  • PTO accrual per hour will be .03847, up to 80 hours annually (120 hours annually after year 1).
