Role
The Electrical team in CorPower Ocean is looking for an experienced electrical engineer to lead the Electric Drivetrain product, taking an important role in the development and optimisation of our innovative wave energy converters.
Since you will be designing and developing a key electrical module (Drivetrain) of the WEC system, the role will involve a large amount of interaction across our engineering teams, including other electrical team members, software, integration and testing, as well as mechanical engineers. Responsibilities (and Duties)
- Establish requirement specifications for systems and components
- Perform electrical system design work including power system analysis
- Produce technical documentation, such as electrical diagrams, test plans, user manuals, engineering calculations, bill-of-materials, etc.
- Perform failure mode, effects and criticality analysis
- Manage the module to meet performance, schedule and budget targets
- Investigate new solutions to improve performance, reliability and cost
- Support supply chain activities including component and supplier selection, factory acceptance testing
- Support assembly and testing of electrical systems in our assembly hall
- Support pilot installations in the field
Qualifications and skills
You will have a BSc or a MSc degree in electrical engineering or related discipline, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant electrical engineering experience. You have experience with Electrical Systems focused on Generators, Inverters, Battery Energy Storage, according to standards from IEC or DNV. Additionally, experience with Inverter Based Resources (IBR) grid connections, DC Distribution applications, cabinets, Peak Shaving Applications, and Electrical Safety of Machinery would be favourable. Familiarity with electrical components from the automotive industry and/or Marine Environment applications would also benefit you in this role.
