Summary
The Distribution Mechanic III is responsible for maintaining and repairing all equipment, piping systems, valves, and machinery at our power plant located in Baltimore, Maryland. This is a full-time, hourly, union position and reports to the Distribution Manager. The compensation for this position is $34.16 per hour plus a 10% bonus target.
Responsibilities
- Maintain safe working conditions in accordance with established Company policies
- Identify, report and/or correct unsafe work environments
- Operate all hand/power tools in a competent manner
- Install, repair, replace, and trouble shoot piping systems, valves, steam traps, pumps
- Perform preventive maintenance as scheduled
- Must be able to work overtime as required
- Exercise caution in the use and maintenance of all company equipment
- Respond to emergency situations immediately and work quickly to correct the problem(s).
- Participate in training to continue education and skills in craft
- Demonstrated ability to communicate orally and in writing
- Perform other duties as assigned by Distribution Manager
- Participate in training to further welding skills, as needed by the department
- Takes rotating, on-call (beeper) on weekends, back shifts, and holidays
- Must be able to work overtime as required
Basic Qualifications
- HS Diploma or GED
- Minimum one year experience in an industrial maintenance setting
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to work with minimum supervision
- Ability to perform basic computer operations and use email
Other Qualifications
- Valid MD 4th or 5th Grade Stationary Engineers License
- Minimum one year Pipefitting experience
- Minimum one year Welding experience
- Minimum one year Rigging certification
Physical Requirements
- Must possess a valid driver's license and insurable by Company's vehicle insurance carrier. Must have and maintain a driving record meeting the standards of the company.
- Must complete pre-employment screenings including a company physical exam in addition to drug testing.
- Ability to lift and maneuver up to and including 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in confined spaces.
- Ability to climb and tolerate heights up to 100 feet.
- Must be able to walk, stand, lift, climb, bend, kneel, stoop, and/or reach.
- Ability to tolerate heat in an industrial production plant environment.
