Job Description
WindEurope is the voice of the wind industry, actively promoting wind energy across Europe. We have over 600 members from across the whole value chain of wind energy: wind turbine manufacturers, component suppliers, power utilities and wind farm developers, financial institutions, research institutes and national wind energy associations.
We are looking for a Trade and Economic Advisor to join our Industrial Affairs team in a leading advocate organisation where you can make a meaningful impact in shaping the future of wind energy.
You will be responsible for collating and reporting on trade statistics, monitoring trade policy developments and supporting the development of a range of WindEurope policy positions. You will report to the Director of Industrial Affairs.
Main duties and responsibilities
- Track, analyse and report on trade statistics for wind energy components and materials;
- Monitor trade policy and trade law developments in the EU and internationally that are relevant for the wind energy sector;
- Support the development of WindEurope’s positions on relevant legislation including the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), Net Zero Industry Act (NZIA) and the Clean Industrial Deal;
- Analyse the impacts of and the changes to relevant financial instruments and strategies developed by organisations such as the European Investment Bank (EIB), the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the World Trade Organisation (WTO) and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD);
- Support in the organisation of relevant WindEurope Working Groups and Task Forces;
- Attend and represent WindEurope at conferences and workshops, ready to travel abroad within Europe and occasionally working outside normal working hours;
- Support members by answering their queries or redirecting them to other teams where appropriate.

- An outgoing personality with a passion for building and nurturing relationships;
- Excellent communication skills, both written and when presenting;
- Able to deliver in highly time-constrained situations or where deliverables can change at short notice;
- Proactive, creative and flexible work ethic;
- Computer literate: Good level of knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and Power Point.
Experience
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree though Masters is preferred within the fields of trade law, economics, international trade, business administration, or political science. Relevant work experience can be accepted in place of a Masters;
- Previous professional experience of 2 - 4 years in a trade or competition related role is a plus.
Software
- Good level of knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and Power Point;
- Experience of the use of trade data platforms such as Eurostat would be an advantage.
Languages
- Excellent level of English (written and spoken);
- A second European language is preferred;
- An understanding of a Chinese language is an asset.
