Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity to join the System Real Estate Team. This critical role is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervises all survey engineering activities. Supervises the work activities of the surveying unit personnel. Ensures projects undertaken are in accordance with overall System Real Estate (SRE) departmental goals and objectives.

The role is based in Berlin, CT.

Essential Functions

  • Monitors the current status of approved projects; identifies problems and scheduling impacts
  • Assists in the preparation of or prepares manpower, capital, and expense budgets; monitors actual costs versus budget and prepares variance reports, creates purchase orders and approves invoices.
  • Provides cost estimates to appropriate personnel as required
  • Reviews survey requests and completed surveys; ensures requests and surveys are in compliance with established SRE policies, procedures, standards, and note keeping formats
  • Verifies that survey permission has been obtained from private property owners prior to starting the work
  • Manages a small team of FTE and daily survey work load.
  • Manages multiple survey vendors, creating scope of work, reviewing proposals and onboarding vendors of choice.
  • Acts as the SME (Subject matter expert) for survey related matters
  • Acts as an expert witness in a court of law involving land surveys as required
  • Coordinates surveying activities with other system departments, outside contractors, other surveyors, lawyers, municipal and state personnel, etc.
  • Certifies land survey maps as required
  • Develops and recommends surveying procedures, standards, and methods
  • Assists in the development and implementation of real estate technical services procedures, standards, and methods
  • Supervises and monitors the use and maintenance of surveying instruments, tools, and equipment
  • Researches and evaluates state-of-the-art surveying instruments, tools, and equipment
  • Provides surveying support to other SRE sections and Eversource departments
  • Performs personnel evaluations on team members

Technical Knowledge/Skills

  • Thorough knowledge of land, engineering, and construction surveying; mapping, legal documents, real estate terminology, etc.
  • Thorough knowledge of CT & MA statutes and regulations governing surveying and mapping activities.
  • Knowledge of state-of-the-art surveying techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze deeds, title abstracts, and other related data, and make decisions and recommendations accordingly.
  • Ability to establish and maintain tactful relations with property owners and the general public.
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with all levels of the organization and with counterparts in outside organizations.
  • Ability to assume responsibility and exercise authority in supervising assigned personnel.
  • AutoCad Civil 3D experience a plus

Education

  • High school or trade school diploma with specialization in mathematics/ surveying or the equivalent plus two years of related formal technical training or the equivalent.
  • LSIT or Licenses Land surveyor preferred.

Experience

  • 5-10 years related (survey) experience (required). Supervisory experience preferred.

Working Conditions

  • Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.
  • Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.
  • The first 90 days are in office – then hybrid working schedule.

Compensation and Benefits

Eversource offers a competitive total rewards program. The annual salary range for this position is $123,750.00 - $137,500.00 plus incentive. Salary is commensurate with your experience. Check out the career site for an overview of our benefits.
