Job Description

CrossBoundary is seeking a Finance & Operations Manager to support the financial management, governance, compliance and operational effectiveness of its investment platforms and portfolio companies.

The role will work closely with senior management and external stakeholders to coordinate financial reporting, statutory compliance, audit processes, lender and investor reporting, treasury activities and operational initiatives across multiple jurisdictions. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on finance professional who enjoys working across a broad range of finance, compliance and operational responsibilities in a dynamic and entrepreneurial environment.

This role is intended to provide strong day-to-day execution and coordination across core finance workstreams, while escalating complex technical, commercial and strategic matters to finance leadership as appropriate.

What you will do

Your primary responsibilities would be:

  • Financial Reporting & Accounting
    • Coordinate monthly, quarterly and annual financial close processes across multiple entities.
    • Support the preparation and review of statutory financial statements and reporting packages in accordance with IFRS and local reporting requirements.
    • Review accounting outputs prepared by outsourced finance providers and follow up on reconciling items or inconsistencies.
    • Support technical accounting assessments for complex transactions, with input from finance leadership and external advisors where required.
    • Maintain accounting schedules, reporting packs and supporting documentation.
    • Help ensure financial reporting is accurate, complete and delivered on time.
  • Audit Support & Coordination
    • Coordinate annual audit processes across multiple entities and jurisdictions.
    • Liaise with external auditors, outsourced accountants and internal teams to gather information and resolve audit queries.
    • Track audit deliverables, deadlines and open points.
    • Prepare and review audit schedules and supporting documentation.
    • Support implementation of audit recommendations and control improvements.
  • Tax & Regulatory Compliance
    • Coordinate corporate tax, VAT, withholding tax and other regulatory compliance activities with external advisors and service providers.
    • Support transfer pricing and cross-border tax documentation processes.
    • Track statutory filing deadlines and regulatory submissions across relevant jurisdictions.
    • Maintain tax and compliance records, schedules and supporting documentation.
    • Escalate tax and regulatory risks or delays to finance leadership.
  • Treasury & Cash Management
    • Support cash flow monitoring and liquidity reporting across the platform.
    • Coordinate funding flows, shareholder funding and intercompany transactions.
    • Assist with banking processes, payment approvals and treasury administration.
    • Support financing, refinancing and restructuring workstreams as required.
    • Help monitor compliance with financing arrangements and reporting obligations.
  • Investor, Lender & Stakeholder Reporting
    • Assist with preparation of investor and lender reporting packages.
    • Coordinate information required for covenant monitoring and financing agreement reporting.
    • Support responses to investor, lender and due diligence requests.
    • Maintain reporting calendars and ensure recurring obligations are tracked.
    • Prepare financial analysis and summaries for review by senior stakeholders.
  • Governance & Internal Controls
    • Support board and shareholder governance processes, including preparation of finance inputs for board packs.
    • Maintain finance records, statutory information and entity documentation in coordination with corporate secretaries and advisors.
    • Support the operation of internal controls and finance policies.
    • Help document key finance processes and identify control gaps or process improvements.
    • Coordinate follow-up actions from governance, audit and compliance reviews.
  • Operations & Process Improvement
    • Identify opportunities to improve finance and operational workflows.
    • Support implementation of reporting templates, automation and scalable processes.
    • Maintain clear documentation of recurring procedures and responsibilities.
    • Assist with operational projects as required by the finance and operations team.
    • Work collaboratively with internal teams and external service providers to improve execution and accountability.
  • Team & Service Provider Coordination
    • Coordinate workstreams with outsourced accountants, auditors, tax advisors, legal counsel and corporate secretaries.
    • Support junior finance team members through review, coaching and day-to-day guidance.
    • Help maintain clear task ownership, deadlines and accountability across finance workstreams.
    • Contribute to a collaborative and high-performing finance team culture.

Who You Are

Hands-on finance professional who enjoys broad, practical execution roles. Strong technical accountant with sound commercial judgement. Detail-oriented with high standards for accuracy and follow-through. Able to coordinate several stakeholders, deadlines and workstreams at the same time. Comfortable working across different jurisdictions and service providers. Practical problem-solver who can balance technical requirements with business needs. Clear communicator who can engage with auditors, advisors, lenders and internal teams. Self-starter who can work independently while knowing when to escalate. Interested in sustainable development and investment in emerging markets.

Required Qualifications

Chartered Accountant, CPA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent qualification. 5-8 years post-qualification experience. Strong IFRS and financial reporting experience. Experience supporting audits across multiple entities or jurisdictions. Experience working with complex corporate structures, investment vehicles or multinational groups. Good understanding of financial controls, governance and compliance processes. Advanced Excel and financial analysis skills. Experience coordinating external service providers and advisors. Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred / Additional Qualifications

Experience in infrastructure, private equity, investment management, project finance or multinational corporate environments. Experience working across multiple African jurisdictions. Exposure to lender reporting and financing agreement compliance. Exposure to transfer pricing, withholding tax or international tax matters. Experience supporting finance systems, reporting templates or process improvement initiatives.

Location

Candidates will join our team in South Africa or Mauritius, although other locations where CrossBoundary operates may be considered where practical.
