About the Role

The Technical Leader - Firmware would be responsible for providing technical leadership in the design & development of embedded software development for metering projects. This role would be responsible for ensuring the quality, cost-effectiveness, efficiency & timeliness of firmware designs and development deliverables for the respective projects and thereby ensuring the success of the overall project. Technically mentoring the team, coordinating the domain related activity.

Areas of Responsibility / Tasks

  • Overall 7+ years of experience in design and development of embedded systems
  • Expertise and hands-on coding experience in C++ & C, Linux.
  • Experience in Embedded Software / firmware development on any RTOS preferably threadX.
  • Experience in communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, UART, RS232, RS485, USB, Ethernet.
  • Requirement Management tools would be an added advantage.
  • Responsible for documentation of overall design of subsystem architecture and design
  • Mentoring skills and ability to coach/mentor junior Engineers in the team
  • Hands-on experience in various phases of the firmware development lifecycle preferably on energy devices including troubleshooting/debugging with tools like oscilloscope, Logic Analyzer.
  • Developing technical specifications, Proof Of Concepts, evaluating prototypes and making recommendations, defining program scope, driving design / engineering reviews are part of the job responsibility.
  • Resolve technical & design conflicts/issues with the support of firmware architect and Product Owners.
  • Able to lead a team of programmers. Experience in project monitoring and control, code reviews, defect prevention, configuration management, etc.
  • Excellent people and customer leadership.
  • Good to have experience in developing embedded software for Smart Energy products.

Desired Skills/Competencies

  • Expertise and hands-on coding experience in C++ and C, with Linux.
  • Skilled in embedded software/firmware development on RTOS, preferably ThreadX.
  • Experience with communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, UART, RS232, RS485, USB, and Ethernet.
  • Proven experience working with ARM, Renesas, or Silabs SoCs or Microcontrollers.
  • Experience in board bring-up and debugging is desirable.
  • Developed networking protocol stacks including IPv6, DHCP, TCP/UDP, and RF communication protocols like IEEE 802.15.4, Zigbee, and LoRa.
  • Knowledge of communication technologies such as LTE, 2G/3G, and RF Mesh is a strong advantage.
  • Familiarity with configuration management systems like TFS and requirement management tools is a plus.
  • Experience in Agile Process, TFS, Azure DevOps is a big plus
