CEEW is looking to hire a young, dynamic individual who is keen for a steep learning curve in the social impact sector and gets energised by contributing to high impact innovations at the intersection of social equity and environmental sustainability. The individual will be directly working with the Fellow and Team Lead- Climate Resilience (henceforth the Fellow), assisting them in research, programming, stakeholder engagement, strategic conceptualisation and research writing.

  • The individual will receive close mentorship from the Fellow and ample opportunity to learn by shadowing and professionally supporting a highly dynamic and impact-driven individual.
  • The Fellow engages with various teams within CEEW to strengthen the partnerships for cross-team impact. In addition, the Fellow also engages with the global community of experts and negotiators on Climate Change Adaptation and Resilience, so the candidate will get a broad exposure and steep learning on the relevant issues.

Job duties and accountabilities

  • Assisting the Fellow in conducting primary and secondary research towards various themes associated with climate change adaptation and resilience, urban resilience, nature based solutions, adaptation finance, international climate negotiations, macroeconomic impacts of climate change etc.
  • Assisting the Fellow in developing concept notes, research writing, programme planning, developing Terms of References, etc.
  • Supporting the Fellow in fundraising, including mapping potential funders, their strategies and priorities.
  • Prepare succinct but highly effective memos and presentations for high-level government and industry stakeholders.
  • Collaborate closely with various programme and initiative teams that the Fellow oversees.
  • Stay updated on industry/market trends, technological advancements, and best practices in entrepreneurship and innovation, key stakeholders(individuals/organisations)
  • Actively build networks with various public, private and civil society organisations
  • Travel whenever necessary, to conduct/support meetings.

In addition to the duties and responsibilities above, the individual should be prepared, as and when necessary, to take on additional responsibilities.

Selection Criteria

Qualification

  • Strong academic credentials, preferably a Master's degree with specialisation in fields relevant to public policy, climate change, business administration and/or development sector. Knowledge/qualifications in environment/sustainability will be a strong advantage.
  • Experience in engaging senior stakeholders (business and/or policy context) will be essential
  • Strong analytical abilities and familiarity with primary and secondary research methods
  • Effective oral and written communication skills in English
  • Knowledge of globally evolving space of climate adaptation and resilience is must
  • Proficiency in word-processing, presentation, data analysis, and AI tools

Work experience

  • 2-4 years' of relevant research/business analysis experience
  • Industry experience in conducting research and analysis (in policy, as business/investment analyst etc)
  • Proven track record of delivering high quality written content for various media
  • Exposure to the development sector, climate change adaptation is desirable.

  • Sharp and analytical mind with a willingness to explore new research areas, learn new research and project management skills.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguous and abstract concepts, and an ability to quickly grasp complex subject matter will be essential
  • Ability to adapt and deliver under tight deadlines in a professional environment.
  • Striving for rigour in research and quality in work output.
  • Ability to effectively work in a team while being able to independently drive research if, and when, needed.
  • Ability to dig deeper into details, while not losing sight of the broader objectives.
  • Willingness to learn, grow and develop - both in personal and professional life - at a rapid pace with a steep learning curve.
  • Ability to work in an interdisciplinary and multicultural environment.
  • Strong drive and initiative, a self-starter.
