Job Description

The Role

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced and client-focused Electrical Engineer to join the team at our Chennai office, to play a key role in ensuring the successful delivery of innovative electrical design solutions for some of the most exciting datacentre projects in the India and APAC region.

You will work closely with colleagues of various disciplines to manage the delivery from the concept to detail design for projects.

You should be able to analyse problems and produce designs to solve them, with the ability to make decisions in high-stress situations. You will have the opportunity over time to assume greater levels of responsibility and autonomy as your professional skills develop and will be supported towards Chartership.

Responsibilities include performing detailed electrical calculations like load calculation, equipment and cable sizing, and illumination assessments, as well as preparing and reviewing Single Line Diagrams (SLDs) with appropriate protection schemes and other schematics.

The role involves developing detailed electrical layout drawings, design specifications, and Bills of Quantities (BOQs), while coordinating closely with other engineering disciplines such as mechanical, civil, and architectural throughout the project lifecycle.

The successful candidate will also assist in preparing tender documentation, conduct technical evaluations of vendor submissions, and participate in design reviews, quality assurance checks, and project coordination meetings.

The Skills

We are looking for a skilled and experienced Electrical Engineer with a strong background in Low Voltage (LV) systems to join our Datacenter Design Team.

The ideal candidate will have 5 to 10 years of relevant experience with a background in electrical engineering and demonstrable experience in the design and delivery of electrical systems for a variety of building types, including defense, healthcare, education, commercial developments, and data centers. Experience in datacenters will be an added advantage.

Educated to degree level in Electrical Engineering and with experience in design of electrical systems (such as electrical distribution and power generation, lighting design, small power layout, calculations, etc), you have an extensive portfolio demonstrating your familiarity with high quality engineering solutions and a client-focussed approach.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in consulting engineering and project delivery, with expertise in designing LV electrical systems including small power, lighting, earthing, and lightning protection in accordance with relevant codes and standards such as IS, IEC, NBC, and local regulations.

You possess excellent knowledge in international codes which are required for designing electrical system along with local authority codes and regulations pertaining to electrical services.

In your most recent position, you have consistently demonstrated your ability to manage multiple projects and less experienced engineers to exceed client expectations. Ideally, you will possess sound knowledge of Revit software, Navis work, BIM360, AutoCAD, Electrical software Calculations like Dia lux and have proven experience for creative, sustainable, and intuitive design.

Given the collaborative and client focused nature of this role, excellent communication and time management skills are essential.
