PV Solar Installer / Roofer (m/w/d)
Good Energy
Company Overview
What They Do
Good Energy is a pioneering company in the UK renewable energy sector, focusing on decentralised renewable generation and customer-side low-carbon technologies. Their offerings include retail electricity and gas supply marketed as 100% renewable, sourced through power purchase agreements with a community of independent UK generators. Additionally, they provide administration services for small generators, having historically been the largest voluntary administrator of the Feed-in-Tariff scheme in the UK. Their product range extends to residential and small-business installations, including solar PV, home battery systems, EV charge points, and heat pump installations (source).
Good Energy operates with a strong commitment to sustainability, targeting residential households and small-to-medium businesses that seek renewable-backed energy supply and on-site low-carbon technologies. They also cater to a community of small independent generators requiring administration or market access, as well as institutional or commercial customers looking for decentralised energy services. Their competitive edge lies in their early market entry as one of the first 100% renewable suppliers, long-standing relationships with numerous small UK generators, and their recent B Corp certification, which underscores their commitment to governance and mission alignment (source).
Projects & Track Record
Good Energy has a rich history of notable projects, including the ownership and repowering of the Delabole wind farm in Cornwall, which was financed with an £11.8 million package. This project exemplifies their commitment to renewable energy generation and their ability to manage large-scale administration of microgeneration sites under government schemes. Over the years, Good Energy has administered hundreds of thousands of small-scale generation sites under the Feed-in-Tariff and related schemes, with reports indicating they have managed between 100,000 to 180,000 generation customers at various times (source).
Good Energy has also strategically divested parts of its generation portfolio in the early 2020s, shifting focus towards decentralised energy services and customer installations. This pivot was marked by the sale of wind and solar assets around 2022, as the company aimed to enhance its supply, services, and installations. Their ongoing projects include scaling their residential installation business for solar, batteries, heat pumps, and EV chargers, as well as developing market products for electricity export payments and customer energy management (source).Recent Developments
In July 2024, Good Energy achieved B Corporation certification, becoming the only B Corp-certified home energy supplier in the UK, which highlights their commitment to social and environmental performance (source). On January 27, 2025, it was reported that Dubai-based Esyasoft agreed to acquire Good Energy for £99.4 million, marking a significant transition from a publicly listed company to private ownership (source). This acquisition reflects a strategic shift in the company's operational focus and ownership structure, as they continue to adapt to the evolving energy market.
Working There
Good Energy offers a diverse range of roles across multiple functions, including customer service, commercial and wholesale trading, operations, engineering for installations, and product and technology roles for energy services. Their careers page lists openings across these areas, indicating a robust hiring strategy to support their growth and operational needs (source). The company culture emphasizes mission-driven work, sustainability, and customer service, with employee reviews highlighting a workplace focused on operational challenges typical of mid-sized energy suppliers and installers.
Good Energy's office locations primarily center around their Chippenham headquarters, with regional teams supporting installation operations across England, Scotland, and Wales. The company provides various benefits to its employees, including role-specific pay, training for installation technicians, and standard UK employee benefits. However, specific details regarding benefits may vary by role and should be verified in job postings or HR materials (source).
