Job Description
Are you passionate about energy and economics? Join Axpo as a Quant Energy Analyst and help shape the future of energy systems with advanced quantitative analysis and modeling. Collaborate with a motivated team to drive innovation in energy markets.
What you will do
- Contribute to Axpo's long-term market scenarios and strategic perspective on energy system transitions;
- Support and further develop European power and flexibility market models, extending models and input data where needed;
- Apply quantitative analysis and modelling methods to uncover strategic insights into market dynamics and long-term developments;
- Develop and run optimization models to simulate market outcomes and asset dispatch at both individual asset and portfolio levels;
- Work with Axpo's data engineering and IT teams to ensure robust, reliable data flows for modelling purposes;
- Maintain and enhance analytical datasets to support modelling and strategic assessments;
- Support strategic business initiatives and evaluate business cases across diverse markets and technologies;
- Prepare analyses and reports to inform and support senior management decision-making.
What you bring & who you are
- Master's degree in economics, engineering, natural sciences, business administration, or a related field;
- 3-5 years of experience in the energy industry, with a solid understanding of power and gas market dynamics;
- Experience with fundamental market modelling or market analysis (e.g. power market dispatch, capacity expansion, gas flows);
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills, including solid Python skills for modelling and data analysis (pandas, numpy, optimisation libraries);
- Ability to translate complex model results into clear, concise strategic implications for diverse audiences;
- Experience in project management is a plus;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English;
- Legal authorization to work in Spain;
- Collaborative mindset - and a good sense of humor!
