We might not be on the frontline of people's zero carbon journey, but the Tax Team plays a pivotal role within our finance function, directly contributing to the company's sustainable growth and overall strategic objectives. Beyond compliance, this team is crucial in safeguarding and optimizing our financial position, enabling investment, managing risk, and fostering a strong reputation.
This role in a nutshell
You will be responsible for all Employment Tax matters for the OVO Group to help ensure we meet all our regulatory tax requirements, manage risk and maximise the value of the Tax Team across the business.
Your key outcomes will be
- Working closely with OVO's People, Reward, and Payroll teams to review all relevant processes in the business and ensure robust controls are in place.
- Ensure the Group's processes and controls are documented adequately, including to support compliance with the Senior Accounting Officer regime.
- Manage all employment tax aspects of employee benefits, working particularly closely with Reward as new benefits are introduced.
- Provide advice & monitor controls in respect of employment status considerations for OVO's workers and suppliers (eg, IR35, umbrella, outsourced).
- Provide advice and support for the transition to the mandatory payrolling of benefits.
- Be the point of contact with HMRC for employment tax matters, including leading our response to questions and queries from HMRC.
- Preparing / managing employment tax filings (PSA, EFURBS, ERS)
- Reviewing & developing processes in relation to employment tax filings to drive improvements.
- Preparation of returns & providing advice in relation to the Construction Industry Scheme regulations.
- Provide guidance in respect of compliance with NMW
- Provide ad hoc advice to the business for new initiatives, projects or as and when required.

- CTA qualified
- Significant experience of managing employment tax matters and associated risks in a large corporate environment.
- Ability to work independently.
- Organised and thorough in approach with a keen attention to detail and willingness to dig and proactively investigate to resolve problems.
- Comfortable with proposing, initiating and driving change and supporting this by implementing processes.
- An ability to communicate (verbally and in writing) and present tax information to non tax colleagues with clarity.
- An ability to build relationships with a wide range of internal stakeholders
- Enjoy working in a changing environment.

We'll pay you between ??48,230 - ??75,000, depending on your specific skills and experience.
We keep our pay ranges broad on purpose to give us, and you, flexibility to match your experience to our zero carbon mission.
You'll be eligible for an on-target bonus of 15%. We have one OVO bonus plan that focuses on the collective performance of our people to deliver our Plan Zero goal.
