As our Renewable Heat portfolio continues to grow, we are looking to appoint a Renewable Heat Engineer to join our specialist Construction - Renewable Heat team.
About the Team
Our Renewable Heat Team is a core group of specialists dedicated to the rapidly evolving low-carbon heat sector. We work across a wide range of technologies including district heating networks, energy centres, large heat pumps, solid renewable fuels, deep geothermal, anaerobic digestion, and EfW CHP.
We support projects across the UK, Ireland and the Nordic countries, delivering technical consultancy services to utilities, public sector bodies, communities and private developers. We are a collaborative, supportive team and are committed to developing our people to reach their full potential.
The Role
As a Renewable Heat Engineer, you will support the delivery of district heating and low-carbon heat projects across all stages of the project lifecycle. You will work closely with Senior Engineers, Project Managers and clients, contributing technical expertise, analysis and high-quality outputs.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with experience in renewable heat or energy systems who is looking to deepen their technical capability and progress within a growing specialist team.
Key Responsibilities
Technical & Advisory Support
- Provide technical input into the development of district heating and low-carbon heat projects
- Support planning, permitting, financing and delivery strategies for renewable heat projects in the UK and internationally
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of technologies, costs and commercial considerations within the renewable heat sector
Project Support & Governance
- Assist or act as Deputy Project Manager on projects, supporting client engagement, contractor coordination and stakeholder management
- Undertake technical reviews of work produced by colleagues or third parties
Technical Consultancy Delivery
- Deliver project work across feasibility, planning, due diligence, financial close, construction, commissioning, operations and decommissioning
- Complete discrete technical studies and analysis to support client decision-making
- Prepare written reports and presentations, communicating technical concepts clearly
- Work collaboratively with project teams to ensure projects are delivered to scope, quality, time and budget
About You
Essential
- Degree qualified in a relevant engineering or science discipline
- Experience contributing to consultancy work on low-carbon heat or energy projects
- Strong understanding of renewable heat or district energy technologies
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary project team
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- IT literate, with experience using modelling, data analysis or engineering software
Desirable
- Postgraduate qualification or progress towards chartership
- Experience with district energy modelling or construction
- Knowledge of wider renewable technologies (solar thermal, PV, wind, energy storage)
- CIBSE Heat Network CoP Consultant accreditation
