We are looking for a Project Engineer, Customer Delivery to join our team working for a better future. The position is permanent, preferred locations are Vaasa, Finland or Drunen, the Netherlands.
Your role and responsibilities
We are looking for an open-minded Project Engineer with strong technical background and knowledge of Wärtsilä products, such as catalyst, engine, propulsion or fuel supply system products and systems. Capability to see and understand the big picture and how products and components are interacting with each other is of key importance.
The ideal candidate shall have a structured and systematic way of working, with strong problem solving and communication skills. Good team working skills, especially in remote team conditions, is essential. He or she should own the capability to work under stress, think beyond the next step and always stay committed and focused on project targets. Experience in Project Management processes and knowledge areas is seen as a strong advantage.
In this position, you will be part of an experienced project team to execute demanding projects in challenging environments. This role will offer you experience in international business and opportunities for professional growth in an exciting field of industry.
Your work will focus on these responsibilities
- Ensure that project-related work is executed according to contract specifications and design directives, planning activities with total cost, schedule, and customer needs in focus.
- Provide technical support to customers during project execution and, when requested, in the pre-project phase.
- Participate in contract preparation and project execution planning activities
- Manage contracted projects (plan, steer, follow up, analyse, and report) in close cooperation with the project team and Project Manager.
- Prepare and deliver project-specific documentation and maintain daily communication with customers.
- When appointed, act as Integration Engineer by coordinating engineering integration and information flow between products from different business lines.
- Take responsibility for relevant milestones, gates, and risk monitoring, escalating issues when required.
- Manage non-conformities according to defined processes and identify opportunities for Variation Orders.
To be successful in this role we expect you to have
- A B.Sc. or M.Sc. in engineering (mechanical, electrical, process, industrial management, or shipbuilding preferred).
- 1-3 years of relevant work experience, preferably in project-based or international business environments.
- Good knowledge of Wärtsilä technologies, solutions, and products.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders in an international setting.
- A proactive mindset, with a willingness to improve ways of working and contribute to continuous development.
- Willingness to travel and fluency in English.
In this role, some travel is required to meet with our customers around the world. Thus, we hope you to be ready to travel approximately 10% of your working time, even though most of the meetings are held virtually.
