The Opportunity
This position requires a highly experienced SCADA Engineering Lead to oversee project integration, maintenance and upgrade of SCADA systems for renewable energy assets, including wind, solar, and BESS. The ideal candidate brings over 10 years of expertise in IT/OT Plant Systems, SCADA integration, and leadership, ensuring compliance with NERC standards and cybersecurity best practices. This role emphasizes advanced knowledge of VMware, OPC UA, industrial protocols (Modbus, DNP3, IEC104), and SCADA platforms such as GE WindSCADA, Vestas VOB, and Ignition.
What You'll Do at Enel North America
Responsibilities, including, but not limited to:
- Lead design, integration, and commissioning of SCADA systems across multiple renewable energy plants.
- Lead change management requests in close coordination with the EGPNA ICS Service Desk to ensure high system availability and reliability.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors to ensure smooth execution.
- Act as the primary point of contact for stakeholders, providing regular updates and reports.
- Facilitate meetings between SCADA and Controls, technologies, external vendors.
- Oversee Acceptance Testing.
- Develop and enforce SCADA standards, ensuring compliance with NERC CIP and cybersecurity-by-design principles.
- Manage integration of OT systems with corporate platforms (OSIsoft PI, network monitoring tools, asset management systems).
- Oversee troubleshooting and root cause analysis for SCADA incidents, coordinating with OEMs and integrators.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including automation and data quality enhancements.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for system configuration and processes.
- Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and resource allocation for SCADA system implementation.
- Prepare and manage project budgets, track expenditures, and control costs.
- Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies for technical and operational challenges.
- Mentor and lead technical teams, fostering knowledge sharing on emerging technologies such as BESS and advanced SCADA platforms.
Who You Are
- Experience in integration/maintenance of large-scale SCADA systems, automation, PLC for the power/utility industry.
- Knowledge of power plant and electrical systems maintenance and operations will be highly regarded.
- Knowledge of Wind Turbine SCADA (GE, VESTAS, GAMESA, etc.) and renewable energy systems will be highly regarded.
- Rigorous approach to problem solving, troubleshooting, documentation, compliance aspects.
- Teamwork oriented but also capable of working autonomously.
- Advanced proficiency in industrial communications: Modbus, IEC104, DNP3, OPC, OSI PI, etc.
- Advanced proficiency in IT communications and systems: SFTP, SSH, Database administration, SQL, data mining, MS Windows server, Linux, etc.
- Advanced networking skills, Proficient with network analysis and packet analysis tools (e.g Wireshark, etc.).
- Advanced Proficiency in VMware, OPC UA, Ignition, KepServerEX, and industrial protocols (Modbus, DNP3, IEC104).
- Expertise in network architecture, cybersecurity, and compliance frameworks (NERC, NERC CIP).
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing budgets >$4M and teams of engineers and contractors.
- Excellent documentation, problem-solving, and project management capabilities.
- Ability to be on call and work off hours as needed.
- Ability to produce and review technical (e.g. troubleshooting guide, incident report) and non-technical documentation (e.g. contractual documents).
- Proficient in: Microsoft Word, Project, Excel, use of Excel Macro, PowerPoint.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Travelling up to 20% of the time.
What You've Accomplished
- B.S. or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation & Controls or Computer Science; or equivalent.
- 10+ years of relevant experience.

What Enel North America Offers You
The pay range for this position is $137,000.00 to $206,000.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will be based on several factors, including job-related knowledge, skills, work experience, education, and internal equity.
