Job Description
Are you an experienced electrical engineer with deep expertise in power conversion systems and a passion for leading complex technical development? We are looking for a Lead Electrical Engineer to take ownership of the electrical design of power converters and play a key role in both new development projects and the maintenance of existing products. You will be working with power converters located in the biggest wind turbines in the world and we expect your expertise will leave a mark on these power converters will be shaped.
In this role, you will lead electrical design activities from concept to release, working closely with skilled engineers across disciplines. You will contribute with strong engineering judgment, advanced simulations, and structured design methodologies to ensure high-quality, robust, and compliant power converter solutions.
You will become part of a highly specialized engineering environment where technical leadership, collaboration, and continuous improvement are key. Purpose of Role
Responsibilities
- Lead the electrical design and dimensioning of power converters, including filters, circuit breakers, busbars, and control sections.
- Design and develop power converters using suitable technologies and state-of-the-art design and quality principles.
- Perform electrical simulations of relevant phenomena such as electrical circuits, magnetic fields, EMC, and harmonics.
- Lead and facilitate electrical design reviews, ensuring documentation is reviewed and approved prior to release.
- Manage mechanical and thermal challenges in close collaboration with mechanical and thermal engineers.
- Create component specifications for components sourced from suppliers.
- Review and interpret customer requirement specifications and ensure design compliance.
- Drive and contribute to D-FMEA activities.
- Participate in First Article Inspections (FAI) together with Technical Project Leads when required.
- Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOM) in the KK ERP system.
- Support the creation of type test specifications in collaboration with test engineers.
- Prepare required technical documentation such as service manuals and technical dossiers in line with legislation and customer requirements.
- Ensure designs comply with DfX principles.
Our requirements
- Master's degree in Electrical or Power Engineering (Power Electronics preferred).
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience within power converter development.
- Proven experience from new product development (NPD) projects.
- In-depth knowledge of power converters and power electronics design.
- Strong electrical simulation skills (e.g. ETAP, MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, SPICE tools).
- Proven experience leading electrical development activities in complex projects.
- Experience from manufacturing environments is an advantage.
- Experience from the wind industry is an advantage.
- Structured, quality-focused mindset with strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-disciplinary teams.
