Job Description

To develop further Alpiq's Green Power assets portfolio, we are looking for a Head Asset Engineering.

Reporting to the Head of the unit Green Power, you will lead a team to directly support Alpiq production assets portfolio growth and the management of existing assets.

You will own, with your team, the technical authority for renewables, hydrogen and other green energy production and transformation technologies. You will cover following geographies: Switzerland, Italy, France, Nordic countries, and new countries with assets under development.

You will support Asset Managers to maximise assets availability and performances; and lead the technical development of new assets from concept studies to construction and commissioning.

Regular travel to assets sites and stakeholders' locations are required.

Your main responsibilities

Multi-geographies organization management

  • Manage a diverse engineering team, based in various countries;
  • Ensure coordination across the different teams in Europe;
  • Structure the development of teams' skills and capabilities.

Engineering expertise development

  • Ensure the continuous development of the Asset Engineering's team capabilities to keep a high level of expertise in various technologies;
  • Drives standardization of engineering practices and technical project management;
  • Organize the market intelligence activity for the team to stay informed about industry trends and emerging technologies related to renewable energy systems;
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by integrating lessons learned and stakeholder feedback.

Asset management support

  • Support with your team, Asset Managers for O&M services negotiation and contract management;
  • Provides engineering authority for asset upgrades, retrofits, and performance enhancements.

Technical lead on asset development

  • Coordinate engineering activities from concept studies to FID;
  • Orchestrate construction and commissioning;
  • Define project execution strategies;
  • Work closely with Business Developers to assess new investment opportunities
  • Supports M&A activities through technical due diligence and asset condition assessments

Your profile

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in electrical/mechanical engineering, or a related field
  • 12+ years of extensive and proven experience in technical project management in the energy sector, for various technologies and complex projects.
  • Extensive and proven experience in wind farms development, construction and operations is a key advantage
  • 5+ years of management experience
  • Full professional proficiency level in English
  • Additionally, full professional proficiency level in at least one of the following languages: German, Spanish or French. Good working knowledge of another one.
  • Willingness to travel frequently across Europe and to asset sites

  • Leadership skills, with the ability to manage cross-functional teams and external partners
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly
