Approximately 580 employees in Europe (source: rocketreach.co). Revenue of $22.1 million in 2025 (source: rocketreach.co).
What They Do
Voltalis specializes in demand response and smart grid technology, focusing on the intelligent management of electricity demand from various devices such as electric heating, air conditioning, water heaters, electric vehicle chargers, and energy storage. This approach aims to balance supply and demand on the grid during peak consumption or renewable energy shortages (source: rocketreach.co). The company's flagship product is a free connected thermostat and a proprietary platform that remotely modulates real-time consumption across millions of devices, thereby reducing energy usage and alleviating pressure on the electrical grid (source: memoori.com). Voltalis primarily targets residential homeowners and commercial buildings in Europe, with the ambition to equip 3 million French households by 2030 (source: rocketreach.co). Competitors include ENGIE, Schneider Electric, and Tesla, but Voltalis stands out for its scale and residential-focused approach (source: memoori.com).
Projects and Background
Voltalis has deployed its technology by connecting over 1.5 million devices in 250,000 buildings, achieving a demand response capacity of 1 GWp in operation and 1 GWp under construction (source: memoori.com). Among notable projects, the company plans to equip an additional 150,000 smart devices in French households and aims for 3 million installations across Europe in the next 5 to 7 years (source: memoori.com). Ongoing expansions aim to grow internationally in the field of end-use electrification, with operations in 8 countries, including the UK, Finland, and Spain (source: rocketreach.co). Although no specific projects with detailed capacities or costs are mentioned, the Voltalis platform serves as essential infrastructure for grid balancing (source: memoori.com).
Recent Developments
In March 2023, Voltalis secured debt financing advised by Herbert Smith Freehills, with lenders such as La Banque Postale AM and Edmond de Rothschild AM contributing to a total of $98.34 million raised (source: cbinsights.com). By 2025, the company reported 1 GWp in operation and 1 GWp under construction, with entry into the UK market and operations in 8 European countries (source: memoori.com). In July 2024, Eight Advisory assisted Voltalis in project financing to support demand flexibility initiatives (source: 8advisory.com). Revenues reached $22.1 million in 2025, with ambitions for 3 million device installations supported by Meridiam (source: rocketreach.co).
