In this role you will support the Project Director in leading offshore wind project bid workstreams in Japan. You will provide strategic input and manage bid submissions in competitive tenders and auctions to secure exclusive development rights and energy contracts. Working closely with the Project Director, you will help ensure the roadmap for obtaining projects is clearly laid out and support the development and execution of targeted efforts to secure tenders. The role covers both established joint venture projects and new project opportunities, offering significant professional development with increasing responsibility over time.
About The Role
- Support the Project Director in devising and implementing bid strategies to ensure the business secures deliverable and value accretive options
- Coordinate across the project team the Bid Preparation Strategy to identify and determine the required program of work against bid success factors
- Manage a team of external advisor including bid advisor, financial advisor, etc. Supervise stakeholder coordination across joint venture partnerships, with particular collaboration with the Procurement team. Support relationship management with Japanese partner organizations
- Prepare, manage and submit tender documentation including pre-qualification requirements and bid submissions, with effective coordination across internal and external stakeholders. Coordinate internal approval processes with RWE Headquarters alongside senior project leadership
- Contribute to the identification of strategic levers and implementation thereof into the project's business case to increase the competitiveness and deliverability of the bid
- Support efforts to increase scoring against tender criteria (e.g. stakeholder management criteria, capability criteria, local supply criteria, etc.) and evaluate potential trade-offs
- Develop subject matter knowledge on Japanese auction rules and METI regulatory requirements
- Ensure bid submissions comply with tender regulations. Make sure best practice approaches and tools are shared across and transferred into bid projects
Job Requirements And Experience
- Japanese and English language proficiency required
- Experience working in Japanese business environments or with Japanese partners
- Degree in business administration, economics, engineering, renewable energy or similar subject, alongside a history of effectively managing commercial activities
- Demonstrated experience in projects which should include strategy, managing bids/tenders and contributing to business development projects
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders effectively, with the confidence to take responsibility and ownership of workstreams across multiple projects
- Skilled communication skills with the capacity to effectively persuade, challenge, and establish credibility at all levels across functions of the business
- Extensive stakeholder management experience including with external parties and joint venture partners
- Ability to make recommendations and implement decisions effectively in a manner consistent with sound bid management principles, while reporting key issues to project leadership
