Approximately 200 employees (Source: rocketreach.co). Revenue of 2 million USD in 2023 (Source: rocketreach.co).

What They Do

gridX focuses on intelligent grid technologies, particularly the XENON IoT platform, which utilizes edge and cloud services to optimize the energy flows from decentralized energy sources such as solar PV systems, batteries, heat pumps, and electric vehicle chargers in real-time. The solutions are modular and manufacturer-independent, meaning they are compatible with over 50 manufacturers (Source: rocketreach.co). Products and services include solutions for smart charging, home energy systems, e-mobility, virtual power plants, and intelligent energy districts, enabling dynamic energy distribution and AI-driven decarbonization (Source: freeelectronsblog.org). Target markets include Europe, where gridX operates in over 15 countries, and the customer base ranges from energy companies to fast charging operators and businesses in the e-mobility and home energy management sectors (Source: gridx.ai). Through their manufacturer-independent approach and modular scalability, gridX distinguishes itself from competitors like GE, Siemens, and Schneider Electric, positioning itself as a leading provider of intelligent energy solutions in Europe (Source: freeelectronsblog.org).

Projects & Track Record

Notable projects by gridX include the Europe-wide rollout of intelligent load management solutions for electric vehicle charging stations in collaboration with E.ON, which began in 2017 and was expanded until September 2020 (Source: fev.vc). Additionally, gridX has developed tailored solutions for companies such as Viessmann, DHL, Fastned, Soly, and ENGIE in Belgium, focusing on smart charging and home energy system management (Source: rocketreach.co). Ongoing efforts are focused on scaling the XENON platform for partners in the e-mobility sector to install more powerful charging points without grid extensions (Source: gridx.ai). The geographical presence extends across Germany as the main market and over 15 European countries, with a strong growth phase projected until 2024 (Source: rocketreach.co).

Recent Developments

In the past two years, gridX has recorded over 50% new partnerships outside Germany in 2023, including the first long-term contracts in Switzerland and Spain (Source: gridx.ai). The acquisition of a majority stake by E.ON in September 2021 has enabled new value chains; however, no further mergers or acquisitions have been recorded since 2021 (Source: fev.vc). 2023 marked a milestone in internationalization, and the selection into the Free Electrons startup program in 2021 highlighted the platform capabilities (Source: freeelectronsblog.org).

Working There

gridX offers positions in engineering, software development, product management, and human resources, with Fabienne Römer serving as the Director of HR and Culture leading the HR department (Source: rocketreach.co). The offices are located in Munich and Aachen, and the company culture emphasizes the impact on energy savings and carbon reductions, as highlighted by CEO David Balensiefen (Source: freeelectronsblog.org). The team consists of talents from companies like Google and McKinsey, fostering innovation in a growth-oriented environment (Source: gridx.ai).

Job Description

Ready to redefine how people interact with green energy? Dive into the heart of Europe's leading energy management platform and lead the team that powers the core of our HEMS.

As our Senior B2C Product Manager, you won't just own the app interface; you will own the complex logic, algorithms, and grid compliance engines that make the HEMS tick. You will translate deep technical sophistication to a seamless, intuitive and easily understandable user experience. By enabling users to control and monitor their HEMS, you empower our B2B partners and drive direct value for thousands of users.

Lead the core of our HEMS: You will lead two product teams responsible for the vast majority of our logic, algorithms, and grid compliance topics. You are the strategic anchor for the core intelligence that powers our platform.

Champion User Value & Experience: You obsess over the end-user, ensuring that despite the immense technical complexity of grid compliance and energy algorithms, the user holds a simple, intuitive product in their hand. You translate backend complexity into frontend simplicity.

Drive Engagement through Continuous Discovery: Following modern product discovery habits, you work closely with user research and your engineering/design counterparts to identify new opportunities. You ensure the HEMS app remains state-of-the-art not just in UI, but in the intelligence it delivers to maximize user savings.

Empower our B2B Partners: You maintain the app API that allows our B2B customers to build their own strong applications. By monitoring their development-and that of major competitors-you spar with them, learn from their experiences, and consult them on setting up effective end-user journeys.

Own the Business Impact: You take ownership of business cases for app and HEMS optimizations. You actively scout for additional monetization opportunities, ensuring that the product is not only viable but loveable.

Measure What Matters: You are responsible for quantitative tracking of delivered features and driving success in key metrics.

This is how you and your application stand out

  • B2C native: You are an expert in customer journey mapping and have deep experience in B2C product management, specifically in mobile app development.
  • Product Pro: You know your way around product management like the back of your hand, from crafting a compelling roadmap to nailing down requirements and keeping the priorities clear. You align your teams around solving problems and driving business results, not just shipping features.
  • 5+ years experience: You have a proven track record as a Product Manager, capable of managing the complexity of two cross-functional teams simultaneously. You are comfortable working in a Product Trio setup.
  • Alignment architect: you can spar with sales and customer support counterparts and translate strategic context into simple, clear direction for your teams.
  • Master of Complexity: You have successfully managed products with heavy technical logic or algorithmic cores. You understand that the core of the product is where the value is created, even if the user only sees the UI.
  • HEMS and Grid Expertise: A strong understanding of HEMS (Home Energy Management Systems), energy algorithms, and grid compliance is highly valued. You can discuss technical constraints with engineers and regulatory constraints with legal teams.
  • Your English is excellent and you are great at connecting with and managing different stakeholders. German is a plus.
