Job Description
The Architecture team at ScottishPower is responsible for providing technology services across all UK businesses. This includes solution architecture, technology evaluation, and strategic group alignment.
As a Solutions Architect, you will play a crucial role in influencing key architectural decisions and ensuring group alignment through industry trend analysis and business engagements.
What you'll be doing
- Designing and review architecture of new solutions with a focus on modern-day platform requirements
- Direct the team in researching, reviewing, and recommending new solutions
- Provide architectural guidance on projects ranging from minor initiatives to major multi-million programs
- Supporting the yearly IT budget and planning process, analysing solutions and technologies to make recommendations based on organisational needs
- Lead product/application evaluation and selection activities, preparing presentations, documents, diagrams, and models to communicate analysis and recommendations
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to understand software application needs, whilst working with business and IT managers on the selection, design, development, and implementation of new solutions
- Responsible for identifying and developing new capabilities through technology trends and vendor collaboration, defining high-level migration plans to address gaps between current and future states.
What you'll bring
- Experience across multiple technology disciplines, including one or more of the following:
- Networking and multi-site hosting database architecture
- Cloud computing
- Data & analytics
- Integration & middleware
- IT security
- Digital platforms
- Ability to research, analyse, and recommend new technologies and software applications
- Experience in creating and maintaining technical architecture documentation
- Up-to-date knowledge of IT security industry trends and threats
- Knowledge of enterprise technology architecture, information principles, and processes
- Experience working across multiple business areas and with senior stakeholders
Minimum Criteria
- Significant experience of Technology Lifecycle across modern domains such as cloud, containers, application development
- Significant IT experience gained from working in a number of Technical Client Service based roles in a technical function
- Record of academic achievement, including some form of recognised qualification from further education with a strong technical degree
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Numerate and able to deal with finances for the purposes of managing budgets or contracts with IT costing, suppliers
- Must be a proven team player to work, promote and consolidate efficient team working relationships
