Job Description

Become a Distribution Project Controls, Senior Advisor at Southern California Edison (SCE) and help build a better tomorrow. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in shaping how SCE's Transmission & Distribution organization plans, funds, and executes its operational work. You will be responsible for balancing affordability, reliability, and performance delivery by integrating Capital and O&M operating plans, ensuring financial and operational strategies are fully aligned to support a resilient, future-ready grid.

This is a unique opportunity to influence enterprise-level decisions, translate complex data into actionable strategies, and establish operating plans for billions of dollars in annual investments across Transmission & Distribution.

As a Senior Advisor, you will partner closely with Substation Leadership, Operational Finance, Resource Planning, and Subject Matter Experts to provide a clear and transparent view of the Substation Construction & Maintenance financial portfolio-from budgeting through forecasting. You will lead the development of operating plans, cost-per methodologies, and compliance tracking, while mentoring team members and fostering collaboration across departments.

The Senior Advisor plays a critical leadership role in guiding operational planning, cost analysis, and performance management across T&D. By ensuring alignment between financial strategy and operational execution, you will drive transparency, affordability, and resilience across the organization, strengthening SCE's ability to deliver reliable energy and support California's clean energy future.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and maintains cost tracking tools and templates to facilitate consistent and e???cient cost management practices across projects.
  • Evaluates and implements cost management best practices and process improvements to enhance the e???ciency and e???ectiveness of cost engineering processes.
  • Advises leadership on cost engineering methods and procedures and prepares developmental assignments for engineers.
  • Leads the evaluation of the projects time, cost, and quality targets, applying governance controls to enable the successful delivery of the project.
  • Provides input during project planning and design phases to optimize project cost-e???ectiveness, value engineering, and risk mitigation.
  • Prepares speci???c budgets in accordance with prescribed standards and procedures.
  • Facilitates internal and contractor compliance with all cost-related requirements and contractual requirements.
  • Ensures site project cost controls policies and procedures, consistent with department policies, are implemented and monitored throughout the duration of the project.
  • A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, ???nancial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, con???dential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ten or more years of experience in engineering cost controls, estimating, planning, and risk assessment for major construction projects.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, information systems, statistics business, finance, computer systems, or a related technical discipline.
  • Master's degree or higher in computer science, information systems, statistics business, finance, computer systems, or a related technical discipline.
  • Seven or more years of experience in the Electric Utility industry, with deep knowledge of Transmission & Distribution operations, cost structures, and performance drivers.
  • Seven or more years of experience leading annual and long-term operational planning for O&M, Capital, and Department Overhead (DOH), including development and refinement of cost-per-unit methodologies that link financial actuals to operational performance insights.
  • Extensive experience overseeing complex cost reporting, variance analysis, monthly budget and forecast reviews, and ad hoc performance assessments to inform executive decision-making.
  • Demonstrated expertise in architecting and designing data integration, analytics, and data engineering solutions, including extraction, transformation, and analysis of large, complex data sets.
  • Five or more years of experience developing analytical and reporting tools using Power BI, SAS, SQL, Microsoft Access, SAP, and other business intelligence or statistical platforms.
  • Proven ability to communicate complex analyses and strategic insights to executive leadership, facilitate senior-level discussions, and advise on risks, opportunities, and performance outcomes.
  • Experience with governance and project controls, including work breakdown structures (WBS), jurisdictional cost allocations, cost monitoring systems, and spend/volume tracking.
  • Demonstrated success mentoring and developing staff, fostering professional growth, and building high-performing teams.

  • The position's work mode is remote. Employee is able to work primarily at home or remote however, the employee may be expected to come to an SCE facility on occasion.
