Job Description

Terabase Energy, Inc. is a Berkeley, CA-based venture backed startup that was founded by solar industry veterans as a result of a technology spinout from SunPower Corporation in 2019. Our mission is to accelerate the renewable energy transition by reducing soft costs and improving efficiency in the development, procurement and construction of large renewable energy projects. We serve our global clients using technology we develop and are already working on some of the largest and most impactful solar powerplant projects in the world.

The Role

The Electrical Engineer will be working with the Controls and Mechanical Engineering teams on prototyping and perfecting solar construction automation equipment from scratch.

  • Take part in equipment conceptual development and balance product specifications, requirements, complexity, cost, and lead-time.
  • Design and implement electrical schematics per national standards (UL508A, NFPA79, NFPA70/NEC, etc.)
  • Conceive, execute and control robust safety systems for manufacturing equipment as per national standards (ANSI, ISO, etc.)
  • Select and size electrical components and power distribution panels
  • Create manufacturing drawings and installation/user documentation
  • Oversee electrical cabinet builds, inspection, and field wiring
  • Build Terabase electrical specifications and standards as well as enforcement thereof
  • Develop and manage suppliers for all development phases including specification, design, acceptance, and installation of electrical equipment and cabinets
  • Define and maintain proper documentation for all electrical equipment and associated usage procedures.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechatronic Engineering
  • At least 3 years of relevant professional experience designing electrical systems and schematics in industrial settings
  • Advanced proficiency in designing electrical and power distribution systems in AutoCAD or EPLAN (AutoCAD Electrical preferred).
  • Ability to communicate with team members and business partners effectively
  • Approach each day with a sense of urgency
  • Hands-on experience working on industrial equipment
  • Proficiency selecting appropriate circuit protectors, wire and cable, sensors, safety hardware, PLC hardware, remote I/O, VFD and servo systems
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical design compliance for different regions including national standards (UL508A, NFPA79, NFPA 70/NEC, etc.)
  • Proficiency in field network topology, both theory and practical applications
  • Experience creating and maintaining project documentation, EPLAN projects, drawings, inspections, permits, etc.
  • Travel, 20-30%

Benefits

This role offers a base salary of $120,000 - $130,000 (DOE)
