Position Summary

The Senior Technical Solution Engineer - Inverter Products supports the design, evaluation, and integration of utility‑scale energy storage systems (ESS) with a strong focus on Power Conversion Systems (PCS). This role requires a system‑level understanding of power electronics, safety, and multi‑product integration across inverters, EMS, batteries, and grid interfaces. The engineer contributes to internal product development, external vendor assessments, validation efforts, and coordination with global engineering teams to ensure technical consistency and alignment.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Due Diligence & Product Development Support

  • Lead in‑depth technical due diligence for inverter products, evaluating performance, reliability, safety, and compliance.
  • Support both internal product development and externally sourced product review processes.
  • Review and validate technical specifications, certifications, vendor data, and control features.
  • Develop internal tools for sizing, system modeling, and design validation.
  • Participate in product roadmap discussions, providing engineering input on features, testing needs, integration and certification requirements.
  • Support Independent Engineer (IE) reviews, preparing technical packages and addressing compliance questions.
  • Maintain awareness of applicable UL, IEEE, IEC, and regional codes and ensure product documentation aligns with evolving standards.

Solution Development & Supply Chain Support

  • Support selection of new inverter products by assessing compatibility with system architecture and solution platforms including review product drawings, models, test results, and sizing tools.
  • Maintain documentation traceability, vendor evaluation records, and internal decision logs.
  • Collaborate with procurement, product management, and R&D to align supplier capabilities with internal requirements and commercial timelines.
  • Provide technical support for product onboarding, including knowledge transfer sessions to engineering, execution, and applications teams.

Cross‑Functional Engineering Support

  • Provide engineering guidance for project‑specific requirements and customer‑driven customizations.
  • Contribute to development of reference documents, templates, and standardized internal workflows.
  • Work with global engineering teams to align on inverter feature updates, controls enhancements, and integration readiness.
  • Perform additional duties as required to support engineering operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or related discipline; advanced degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in power converter, inverter development or ESS.
  • Strong technical foundation in power electronics, inverter‑based resources and certification process.
  • Knowledge of BESS applications and hands‑on experience with testing, validation, or system modeling.
  • Familiarity with relevant certifications and standards such as UL 1741/SA, UL 9540, IEEE 1547, IEC 62109, IEC 61850.
  • Experience working with global engineering or manufacturing teams across multiple time zones.
  • Demonstrated ability to build internal tools, automate processes, or develop engineering workflows.
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills. Mandarin proficiency is beneficial but not required.
