Their Business
Ampd Energy focuses on advanced lithium-ion battery energy storage systems (ESS) designed to replace diesel generators in high-emission industries. Its core technologies include automotive-grade batteries, fire and explosion-proof modules, high-output power electronics, and internet connectivity through the Enernet software platform, enabling remote monitoring, data analysis, and over-the-air updates (source: cbinsights.com). Ampd Energy's flagship products include the Enertainer, a large transportable battery storage system that can be deployed within two hours for high-power loads such as cranes and welders, and the Ampd Silo, a compact 16.8 kWh unit originally designed as a UPS replacement but now integrated into a broader range of ESS products (source: ampd.energy).
Projects and Achievements
Notable projects by Ampd Energy include the deployment of the first Enertainer at the 108,000 square meter advanced manufacturing center in Hong Kong Science Park in October 2019, managed by Gammon Construction, aimed at achieving a 25% reduction in carbon intensity by 2025 (source: audacypartners.com). In the UK, the Enertainer replaced three diesel generators at Laing O’Rourke's Olympia redevelopment project in West London, significantly reducing noise and emissions (source: ampd.energy). As of June 2024, Ampd Energy has deployed 260 units, avoiding over 45,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions (source: audacypartners.com).
Recent Developments
In the past two years, Ampd Energy secured a significant round of funding led by Openspace and Kibo Invest, which will be used to expand manufacturing and enter markets in the Middle East, Europe, the United States, and Southeast Asia (source: cbinsights.com). The company reported over 260 battery deployments in June 2024, resulting in a reduction of over 45,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions and achieving up to 85% carbon reduction (source: tarongagroup.com). Additionally, Ampd Energy was selected for the Forbes Asia 100 to Watch list prior to its expansion in 2022 and continues to grow its market share.
Work Environment
Ampd Energy offers positions across engineering, software (Enernet platform), sales/business development, operations/services, with recent hiring focused on growth executives, reaching a workforce of 60 employees by mid-2022 (source: audacypartners.com). The company culture emphasizes the management team's commitment to building commercially viable impact solutions and fostering close partnerships with investors to accelerate growth (source: cbinsights.com). Ampd Energy is transforming how cities build - cleaner, smarter, and more sustainably. We are trailblazers in making the construction industry emission-free. Our products are advanced, compact, and connected battery energy storage system (BESS) designed to replace the dirty, noisy, and hazardous diesel generators that power construction sites around the world. By combining connected hardware with advanced software and AI, we reduce emissions, noise, and operational complexity.
We envision an emission-free future across all industries. Our mission is to develop robust, versatile, and easy-to-use products that deliver clean energy - empowering businesses and people to achieve more. We're seeking individuals who bring entrepreneurial drive, adaptability, and enthusiasm, and who thrive in an environment of continuous learning and evolution.
Ampd Energy is seeking a Field Engineer/Technician to provide technical support and repair services for our suite of Battery Energy Storage (BES) products. These are units that provide power to sites like construction, mining, or entertainment spaces while being charged with a much smaller generator than otherwise would be used or a small utility input. You will be part of the Service team and based remotely in a central U.S. metropolitan area. This position will report to our Director, Global Service (based in the US).
This is a highly hands-on role that requires flexibility to travel to customer sites across the United States (or parts of LATAM as we expand) as needed, with occasional work outside standard working hours and on weekends.
On a typical day, you'll be diagnosing and resolving BESS (battery energy storage system) issues remotely, guiding customers through what next steps to take to resolve their issues, and partnering with internal teams to troubleshoot complex engineering problems. You'll document technical solutions for other technicians, create and manage service tickets to track issues, and work closely with the supply chain to organize and maintain spare parts inventory within your region.
Strong customer communication skills are essential, as you'll frequently support customers remotely and, when required, travel on site to resolve more complex issues in person. You'll also help identify, coordinate, train, and manage local contractors to support service work at remote locations.
As part of a small but growing team in the Americas (and serving as our first US-based Field Engineer) this role offers opportunity for career growth as Ampd scales across the U.S. and Latin America.
What You'll Do
- Support: Provide remote and sometimes local expert technical support to customers, solving challenges and ensuring seamless product performance
- Deploy: Install and commission products on customer sites
Train: Teach our distributors and contractors how to service and use our products - Troubleshoot: Be an excellent problem solver to diagnose and root cause issues
- Document: Create/write up test reports, service reports, new knowledge base articles, and ticketing to organize issues
- Analyze: Help collect and analyze data regarding the product reliability, usability, and performance
- Innovate: Provide invaluable feedback to our engineering and sales team to improve our future products
Who You Are
- Hands-on Experience: Relevant experience working physically around high power equipment. Proficient with electronic equipment, power tools, and troubleshooting electrical systems.
- Educated: Trained as an Electrical Technician, Electrician, or Electrical Engineer, preferably with renewable energy systems
- Licensed: Valid driver's license with access to a vehicle (we provide a vehicle allowance and reimbursement for mileage)
- Technical: Strong understanding of electrical safety, testing procedures, and relevant regulations. Ability to read and understand electrical drawings and manuals.
- Independent & Collaborative: Effective working both independently and as part of a team.
- Fluency: Good command of written and spoken English. Preference for Spanish speaking as we are expanding into Latin America.
Ampd Energy offers competitive benefits, strong opportunities for professional growth, and a collaborative, multinational work environment.
