What They Do

BOSS Energy Consulting specializes in recruitment and manpower services tailored for the renewable energy sector. The company has evolved from its initial focus on energy consulting to become a dedicated recruitment firm targeting zero-carbon and renewable energy sectors. Their services encompass a wide range of recruitment solutions, including contingent, retained, contract, executive search, and interim project manpower across various segments of the renewable energy value chain, such as solar, wind, hydrogen, and energy storage (source: contactout.com). They leverage data-driven talent sourcing with a remarkable 97% conversion rate, ensuring that clients receive the best candidates for their projects.

Projects & Track Record

As a recruitment and consulting services provider, BOSS Energy Consulting does not engage in direct project development or engineering feats, and thus, there are no specific completed projects or capacities in megawatts attributed to the company. Instead, their ongoing activities focus on fulfilling recruitment mandates and deploying manpower across various client renewable projects in sectors such as solar, wind, and hydrogen (source: boss-energy.co). The company serves a diverse range of clients, including EPCs, PMCs, and manufacturers, but does not publicly disclose specific major projects or timelines.

Recent Developments

In recent years, BOSS Energy Consulting has filed total exemption full accounts for the period from 1 January 2023 to 31 December 2023, confirming its micro-entity status, with submissions made by 30 September 2024 (source: endole.co). There have been no major announcements regarding new contracts, acquisitions, or funding rounds, although a charge was registered in April 2022, indicating potential short-term financing. The company also relocated its office in November 2022, which marks a significant operational change (source: find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk).

Working There

BOSS Energy Consulting primarily hires for roles in recruitment and consulting, focusing on in-house consultants who specialize in renewables, as well as graduates and experienced recruitment professionals. The company operates from its headquarters in London, with additional offices in Amsterdam and Singapore, allowing for a global reach in talent placement (source: boss-energy.co). The company culture is described as supportive, with benefits including early finishes on Fridays, lunch clubs, and a cycle-to-work scheme, alongside competitive salaries and opportunities for professional development.

Job Description

BOSS Energy Consulting is partnering exclusively with a high-growth cleantech start-up that is commercialising electrified heating technology for industrial applications. The company is developing a proprietary system that replaces fossil-fuel powered boilers with a competitive, lower-cost alternative - helping industrial plants cut emissions while reducing energy costs.

This is a rare early-stage hire where you will shape how the company's systems move from customer conversation to deployed infrastructure. The role sits within the Technical Operations team and spans the full project lifecycle - from pre-sales technical scoping through to on-site commissioning. As the company scales, there is a clear pathway for this role to evolve into building and leading this function.

The role is hybrid (2-3 days per week in office), with regular travel for customer engagement, site surveys, and early deployments.

Key Responsibilities

Intake & Pre-Sales

  • Lead technical discovery calls and site readiness assessments to support the Commercial team.
  • Structure feasibility analyses (what's possible, trade-offs, quick go/no-go decisions).
  • Set realistic expectations; avoid over-promising while enabling a compelling commercial path.

Post-Sales Integration & Delivery

  • Own the technical handoff and integration plan (mechanical, electrical, and process scope).
  • Coordinate contractors, rigging, commissioning, and on-site testing; provide hands-on support where needed.
  • Interface with OEMs, integrators, and EPCs; conduct design reviews and ensure alignment on P&IDs and controls.

Stakeholder Management

  • Work with EPCs, integrators, and permitting partners to de-risk delivery (method statements, risk assessments, local building/industrial permits).
  • Ensure conformance to site standards (HSE, electrical, pressure systems, etc.).

Data, Documentation & Enablement

  • Gather and structure customer data (profiles, metering, historical loads).
  • Maintain technical documentation, BoMs, and commissioning records.
  • Provide technical support to commercial pilots and help mature the pipeline.
  • Document performance, lessons learned, and support issue resolution through commissioning.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong systems integration and mechanical design capability with experience progressing projects from concept and proposal to deployment and commissioning.
  • Comfortable identifying plant and process-specific challenges and developing effective engineering solutions.
  • Experience with complex system integration in heavy industries, steam systems, process systems, and/or hybrid heating solutions with a focus on industrial deployment. Additional experience in HVAC and refrigeration cycles is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills, comfortable engaging technically with clients, project teams, and field engineers.
  • Willingness to travel for site surveys, installation support, and customer meetings (domestic/international as needed).
  • Prior experience as an Applications or Systems Integration Engineer, or a Bachelor's/Master's degree in Engineering (or equivalent).
  • You must have the right to work in the UK. Visa sponsorship is unfortunately not available for this role at this time.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with industrial heat pump technology, thermal systems, or heat recovery applications.
  • European language working proficiency (German preferred).
  • Comfortable producing design documentation, schematics/P&IDs, and project reporting.

All applications and enquiries will be handled in strict confidence.
