With a mission to enable Clean Energy 2030, we accelerate the growth of UK companies in offshore renewables, fuel clean economic growth, and support the UK's journey to net zero.

We're looking for a Non-Executive Director to join our board. Our Board shapes our organisation, ensures good corporate governance and supports our executives on the delivery of our current operations and longer-term business strategy.

Position

As a Non‑Executive Director, you will play a key role in shaping the strategic direction, governance and long‑term success of ORE Catapult. Working closely with the Chair, CEO and Executive Team, you will provide constructive challenge, strategic insight and independent oversight across all areas of activity.

You will support the continued growth of the organisation, deepen our influence across the clean energy ecosystem, and help ensure that our work maximises impact for the UK economy, industry and wider society.

This is an opportunity to contribute to the UK's Net Zero ambitions and support innovation in one of the most dynamic clean‑technology sectors globally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and constructive challenge to the CEO and Executive Team.
  • Monitor performance against strategy, budgets and operational targets.
  • Support the development of entrepreneurial and innovation‑led approaches, building relationships within investment, venture capital and technology communities.
  • Act as a visible ambassador for ORE Catapult, engaging with government, industry, academia and partner organisations.
  • Strengthen governance, including oversight of risk management and reporting.
  • Promote an inclusive, diverse, open and collaborative culture across the organisation.
  • Serve as a statutory director, participating in at least one Board sub‑committee.

Requirements

Essential Attributes & Experience

  • Proven leadership at Board or senior executive level within a complex environment.
  • Strong track record of influencing and engaging senior stakeholders across industry, government, academia or regulatory bodies.
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic and financial planning within innovative organisations.
  • Significant achievements in driving business growth, innovation or value creation.
  • Ability to provide rigorous scrutiny while constructively supporting organisational improvement and scale‑up.
  • Authentic, consistent personal style with high integrity and credibility.
  • Commitment to ORE Catapult's mission, values and strategic objectives.

We particularly welcome candidates with backgrounds in:

  • High‑tech manufacturing (aerospace, automotive, OEMs, cable manufacturing)
  • Innovation‑driven IT and digital technologies
  • CTO, R&D or technology‑transfer leadership roles
  • Digitally enabled technologies and advanced engineering environments
  • SME, start‑up or scale‑up innovation ecosystems
