Job Description

As we progress on our flexibility strategy, we have grouped all asset activities under a single business division. The business division's mission is to ensure safe and performing operations of Alpiq's asset fleet and to deploy Alpiq's growth in flexible assets across Western Europe. To ensure the sound implementation of this mission across Alpiq, we are creating a team dedicated to performance and portfolio steering.

Impact

Reporting into Alpiq's EB member responsible for the asset division, you will lead a high-octane team dedicated to monitor and understand operational performance, identify and deploy improvement strategies in collaboration with the responsible business owners. Your team will also steer Alpiq's development and project portfolio to ensure delivery of the strategic targets.

Your main responsibilities

  • Promote a performance culture across Alpiq's asset organizations and lead the organizational change required. Ensure proper monitoring of asset performance and efficient reporting across Alpiq's diverse asset fleet and create a modern performance framework for Alpiq's assets;
  • Ensure the timely onboarding of new assets in the performance framework;
  • Identify performance levers and root causes and create appropriate benchmarking capabilities to provide Alpiq with actionable performance insights;
  • Define together with the responsible business owners improvement targets, support business owners to define measures and monitor effectiveness;
  • Develop a fit-for-purpose project pipeline framework to ensure proper project governance, timely decision making, efficient allocation of resources and prioritization;
  • Organize gathering and maintenance of project data with the required timeliness and quality, make deviations and risks visible, ensure adherence to Alpiq's project management guidelines;
  • Monitor capex projects, ensure portfolio-level risk & opportunity management, propagation of lessons learnt, with a specific focus on procurement strategy and supplier management;
  • Refine Alpiq's asset portfolio strategy as the company and the markets evolve, identify value creation opportunities across asset and project portfolio and shape Alpiq's long-term vision for its asset portfolio;
  • Develop the organization in line with its mission, ensure proper knowledge management and development and employee development;
  • Coordinate activities, information sharing and alignment with internal partners along asset value chain, most importantly business owners, trading, finance, procurement.

Your profile

  • Your passion for the energy industry is more important you're your educational background. Whether you come from an engineering, finance, law background, you are well read in the energy industry and understand how merchant assets are being built, operated and commercialized;
  • You have a successful track record in the power industry where you have developed a strong understanding of the industry's fundamentals - power markets, asset management, project management;
  • You have shaped operational improvement and performance optimization projects, understand what value levers exist, how to look for them and make them concrete. You understand how construction work and equipment is procured and what the pitfalls are;
  • You have a sound general business understanding, are curious and a fast learner, you are good at structuring problems and like finding new approaches to solve issues;
  • You have strong leadership and influencing skills. You enjoy working in a matrix environment, you know how to develop strong ties to internal partners and customers, you are able to navigate different cultures;
  • Business proficiency in English. Any other European language is a strong plus, specifically French, German, Italian and Spanish.
