Job Description

As a Technical Sales Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting ABB's global sales activities as the technical specialist during the pre-sales phase. You will provide expert guidance to customers and sales teams across multiple regions, assess technical requirements, and develop tailored solutions to meet customer needs. Acting as the technical lead on various sales activities, you will review technical specifications, prepare solutions, and deliver trainings and presentations to customers worldwide.

Your responsibilities also include delivering training on medium voltage products and equipment testing for ABB stakeholders, managing customer audits including secondary injection testing, and supporting product approvals and framework agreements. You will collaborate closely with global sales, product management, and R&D teams to ensure reliable, high-quality technical solutions.

This role is based in Vaasa with hybrid model and includes regular business travelling globally.

Work tasks

  • Providing technical support and expertise to global sales and customers throughout the sales process
  • Acting as the technical specialist in key projects and supporting tenders, framework agreements, and product approvals
  • Defining customer requirements and preparing technical solutions and proposals
  • Delivering customer training and conducting factory testing (e.g., Omicron)
  • Contributing customer and market insights to product development and product management

We are looking for

  • A suitable educational background (e.g. electrical engineering, electric power engineering)
  • Good knowledge of protection relays and applications
  • Fluent written and spoken skills in English, other language skills are seen as an advantage
  • Willingness to travel for work
  • Experience with Omicron or similar electrical testing devices is considered an advantage

We also value hands-on field experience. Relevant competence can be gained e.g. through substation commissioning, installation, testing, or maintenance work. Practical experience in substations often provides strong expertise in protection relays and their real-world applications.
