Job Description

The Role

The Field Vehicle Mechanic will serve as an integral part of the Construction Operations team overseeing maintenance, repairs, and upkeep of fleet vehicles used on construction sites for material transport.

Duties

  • Under general supervision, diagnoses, repairs and maintains automotive and heavy construction equipment, small engines, and other related equipment.
  • Performs various technical tasks associated with gasoline vehicle and equipment maintenance and repair including troubleshooting, repairing/maintaining all vehicle components and systems such as electrical, fuel, hydraulic, suspension, drive train, cooling, power train, brake emissions, rebuilding engines, rebuilding carburetors, repacking hydraulic cylinders, minor body damage repair, etc
  • Executes essential maintenance assignments involving but not limited to automotive, electrical, systems, and other related trade skill sets.
  • Provide preventative maintenance on tools, machinery and property to ensure its readiness and the achievement of safety standards
  • Maintain records on equipment and its location as well as status of work accomplished
  • Maintains a safe and clean work environment
  • Must be able to work outside for eight (8) hours a day (flexible schedule as may be required) and lift 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • 80% travel required to project sites across the United States. Travel expenses and lodging will be covered by company

Requirements

Required Experience

  • Strong mechanical skills
  • A good working knowledge of equipment operations and mechanical functions
  • Strong Diagnostic Skills
  • The ideal candidate requires seven years of job-related experience or a combination of experience and training with servicing, repairing, and maintaining gasoline vehicles and/or heavy equipment.
  • Must exhibit a high level of safety consciousness and a clear understanding of equipment safety
  • Must have a driver's license and a clean driving record
  • Self-motivated and capable of following directions and effectively working in a team environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work safely and independently.
