Job Description
ScottishPower's RIIO-T3 Business Plan is a £12 billion investment to upgrade and expand the electricity transmission network across Central and Southern Scotland from 2026 to 2031. This exciting investment plan aims to connect up to 19GW of clean energy, support over 11,000 jobs, and accelerate the UK's journey to Net Zero by 2035.
As part of this campaign, we are delighted to announce we have several new opportunities for Project Managers to join our business and be part of a growing team, bringing your expertise to help deliver real changes that positively impact communities and climate goals.
Role
The Project Manager is responsible for the management of a portfolio of capital projects that will be delivered safely and without adverse impact to the environment, within authorised budget, to a high standard of quality and the required timescales.
What you'll be doing
- Responsible for the management of identified projects throughout their full lifecycle from development through to final closeout
- Responsible for the delivery of outputs, incentive metrics and milestones in line with business targets. Effectively manage project risk and mitigate the impact of issues that may emerge.
- Responsible for the correct management and administration of contracts
- Develop accurate capital expenditure forecasts and output projections on assigned projects, with full accountability for project, contractual and financial governance.
- Responsible for the creation, management and monitoring of project programmes
- Promote and implement external and internal stakeholder engagement and community liaison for projects, including compliance with the SPEN Grantors Charter
- Ensure system data and final records for all assets are entered into the corporate systems in line with required policy and associated timescales
- Drive continual improvement by completing project and contract reviews, identifying lessons learned and sharing these with the wider business. Make proposals and introduce changes for best project management practice and behaviour across the wider project portfolio.
What you'll bring
- Significant experience managing transmission projects.
- Strong understanding of procurement processes and procedures.
- Expertise in contract management (NEC, SPT D&C, JCT & FIDIC).
- Knowledge of financial control and forecasting.
- Familiarity with quality assurance processes and health, safety, and environ mental legislation (especially CDM).
- Ability to devise solutions to complex problems
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Degree in relevant Engineering discipline or equivalent experience
- Clean driving license (travel across SPEN locations required).
Minimum Criteria
- Experience in a programme management environment of multiple projects and disciplines.
- Understanding of health, safety, and environmental legislation.
- Strong skills in planning, financial control, and stakeholder management.
- Experience of managing a complex programme of contracts, multiple work programmes and commercial contracts.
