Become a Technical Specialist, Advisor at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you'll be joining the Orange Region Field Engineering team primarily supporting Santa Ana, Huntington Beach, Saddleback, and Fullerton Districts. Our team is responsible for distribution system planning, capital scoping, and directly supporting customer projects from new construction and renovations to resolving power related concerns. You will be involved in feasibility assessments, technical design and cost estimation of distribution system and customer driven projects working together with Design & Field Asset Services (DFAS) and operations to ensure alignment with applicable standards and strategic objectives. As a Technical Specialist, Advisor, your work will help power our planet, reduce carbon emissions and create cleaner air for everyone. Responsibilities
- Collaborates with business stakeholders to define data requirements and translate business questions into analytical queries.
- Develops new processes with the goals of increasing productivity, reducing risk of system failure, promoting efficiency in workflow, and meeting or exceeding key operational performance targets.
- Updates and revises technical manuals based on policies and procedures, manufacturer information, industry standards and best practices.
- Provides input into the definition and documentation of the technical delivery policy, process, standards and documentation templates, collaborating with the product development team on product design and upgrades.
- Supports substation in creating goals for bill of material processing, setting monthly targets with support from transmission and distribution.
- Delivers independent execution of established and emerging work processes and systems.
- Communicates status of projects and studies, assists with planning and scheduling, and ensures alignment of communications initiatives to meet business unit goals and overall strategy, including consistency in tone, message, and approach.
- Conducts data analysis to develop insights and identify trends from large datasets regarding substation package intake and processing.
- Lead major projects that have major financial or operational impact to the operating unit and/or company. Performs in-depth analysis, develops recommendations, and provides consulting to address customer and/or Company problems/issues which cross organizational boundaries and require thorough technical knowledge to resolve.
- A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.
Minimum Qualifications
- Seven or more years of experience providing technical support.
- Experience in defining data requirements and building analytical queries.
- Possess a valid Class C Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrate ability to create and maintain a safety conscious work environment.
- Seven or more years of planning experience or working with design contractors.
- Three or more years of experience with underground and overhead design and construction standards.
- Strong knowledge of SCE's Rules and Tariffs governing how SCE's builds and operates it's system.
- Experience supporting technical projects in the areas of planning, construction, and operations.
- Experience organizing, leading or providing direction to cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrate ability to mentor, provide guidance, and explain technical concepts/standards to customers and new employees.
Additional Information
- This position's work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.??? Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California.??? Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.
