Job Description

Systems Engineering Leadership

  • Lead and own the system requirements lifecycle, including stakeholder needs definition, requirements decomposition, allocation, traceability, verification, and change control across hardware, firmware, software, and cloud components.
  • Establish and maintain system level technical baselines, ensuring alignment across disciplines and throughout development, integration, and validation phases.
  • Guide system architecture decisions with a strong understanding of electrical systems, embedded platforms, communications, power, and interfaces.
  • Serve as the organizational expert in requirements quality and management best practices, ensuring requirements are clear, unambiguous, verifiable, and traceable in accordance with recognized systems engineering standards.
  • Oversee requirements planning, baselining, and change management.
  • Lead systems engineering work within JIRA, leveraging structured workflows, requirement management, and issue tracking.

Team Leadership & Management

  • Build, lead, and mentor a high performing Engineering team, providing technical direction, career development, and performance feedback.
  • Allocate resources effectively across programs and priorities, balancing near-term execution with longer term architectural and technical needs.

Execution & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner closely with Product Management and Project Management to translate market and customer needs into executable technical requirements and delivery plans.
  • Support risk identification and mitigation through system analyses and early validation strategies.
  • Communicate system status, risks, and decisions clearly to engineering leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Foster strong collaboration across Electrical, Mechanical, Firmware, Software, Cloud, Data Science, Product Management, Operations, and Project/Applications teams.
  • Continuously improve systems engineering processes, templates, and practices to increase efficiency, quality, and predictability.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Systems Engineering (or equivalent discipline with significant electrical systems experience).
  • 10+ years of professional experience in systems engineering roles, with demonstrated ownership of system level requirements and architecture.
  • Expert level experience in requirements management, including decomposition, traceability, verification, and change control across complex systems.
  • People leadership or management experience, including mentoring, performance management, and team development.
  • Strong understanding of electrical and embedded systems, including interfaces, power, communications, and system integration.
  • Background working in hardware, software, and cloud integrated systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Familiarity with Agile or hybrid development environments and lifecycle management tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with renewable energy systems, particularly solar power installations and associated power electronics (inverters, charge controllers, DC/DC converters)
  • INCOSE Certification (ASEP, CSEP, ESEP), or equivalent.
  • Experience supporting products deployed in operational, field-based, or environmental monitoring contexts.
  • Proficiency with programming or scripting tools (Python, LabVIEW, etc.) to support test automation or data analysis

Compensation Information:

Base Salary Range: $150,000 - $180,000 USD (Annually)

Actual base salary offered to the hired applicant will be determined based on their level, qualifications, job related skills, as well as relevant education, training and experience.
