Job Description

Locogen is a renewable energy consultancy providing end-to-end development services to our clients across the UK. Our vision is a world powered 100% by renewables; where everyone has access to affordable, sustainable energy and clean air. Our work is important and varied across onshore Wind, Solar PV and Battery Storage (BESS).

This is a senior leadership role and reports directly to the CEO. You will lead a reliable and disciplined finance function for the Locogen Group, and provide clear financial insight to the leadership team in the UK and France.

The role ensures the business has accurate reporting, strong forecasting and visibility of profitability and cashflow, enabling confident decision-making and supporting the sustainable growth of the organisation.

Some of the things you might be doing

  • Lead monthly management accounts, statutory reporting and audit processes, maintaining strong financial controls and regulatory compliance across the organisation
  • Own the annual budgeting cycle and rolling forecasts for revenue, costs and cashflow, with early identification of emerging risks and opportunities
  • Act as a strategic financial partner to the CEO and SLT, translating financial data into clear insight that drives decision-making
  • Provide visibility of project and consultant profitability, analysing utilisation, margins and revenue performance to support consultancy delivery
  • Serve as technical authority for client-facing financial models, owning model standards, version control and sign-off across consultancy outputs
  • Oversee financial management for operational SPVs and the development portfolio, including budgeting, forecasting and management reporting for UK and France
  • Maintain clear oversight of cash position, credit control and financial discipline across the business
  • Lead, develop and coordinate the finance function - including bookkeeper, management accountants and external support - ensuring clear processes and accountability
  • Own Business Central and other financial systems, driving continuous improvement in how finance integrates with wider business systems
  • Strengthen financial understanding across the organisation, supporting leaders and heads of department with the MI and tools they need to perform

Who would be a good fit for the role?

The role would suit an experienced Head of Finance who wants to lead a small team and have a positive influence enabling the running of the business.

  • Proven experience leading a managing a finance function including but not exclusive to management accounts, budgets, MI, cashflow management, financial controls
  • Strong forecasting capability and ability to provide forward-looking financial insight
  • Ability to analyse profitability across projects, teams and/or services
  • Experience working in a consultancy, professional services or project-based business
  • Comfortable translating financial information into clear insights for non-financial leaders and supporting with financial decision-making
  • Ability to ensure financial discipline across the organisation, including invoicing, credit control and cost management
  • Ability to build trust with senior stakeholders and influence decision-making

It would be great (but not necessary) if you have

  • Experience supporting investment decisions, financial modelling or project finance
  • Exposure to property, development or asset-based investment models
  • Experience implementing or developing financial dashboards or performance reporting
  • Experience contributing to board or executive-level reporting
