About the role
The Senior Manager, Strategic Communications will lead strategic corporate communications that connect employees to AGL's purpose, values and strategy, strengthening engagement, pride and advocacy across the organisation.
With portfolio responsibility spanning Health, Safety and Environment (HSE), People & Culture (including diversity and inclusion networks), Technology and statutory reporting, the position provides trusted communications counsel to the Executive Team and develops clear, compelling content for internal and external audiences. The role shapes and delivers communications strategies and plans for enterprise functions and key projects, leads company-wide initiatives such as cost discipline programs, and manages owned-channel communications for statutory milestones (including financial results, employee communications and Q&A). It also oversees AGL's speeches and presentations process, continuously improves company-wide communication channels, tools, processes and templates, and ensures core enterprise materials (e.g., slide packs, About AGL content, boilerplate and leadership bios) remain current and effective.
This is a 12 month maximum term contract, based in Melbourne or Sydney.
What You'll Be Doing
- Development and ongoing management of HSE, P&C and Technology communications strategies.
- Lead and manage the Speeches and Presentations process for AGL.
- Develop content to communicate clearly and effectively with internal and external audiences.
- Develop communications for statutory reporting milestones, including employee comms and Q&A.
- Identify opportunities to develop and amplify external communications content on AGL's digital channels.
- Review, refine and manage companywide communication channels to ensure maximum effectiveness and drive employee engagement.
- Develop and implement best practice communications tools, processes and templates for leaders and employees to improve their communication skills.
- Ensure key Enterprise wide documents and images are current, specifically, the AGL slide pack, About AGL, our boiler plate, ET bios etc.
- Proactively identify communication gaps and deliver high quality solutions and improvements.
What You'll Bring
- Tertiary qualification in communications, public relations, journalism or a related field.
- Minimum 10 years' experience in a similar role.
- Outstanding written and verbal communications skills.
- Extensive experience developing and implementing internal and external communications strategies for diverse audiences.
- Extensive experience creating engaging content that informs, educates and motivates employees.
- Experience at managing employee events.
- Highly developed stakeholder management skills with the ability to develop strong relationships with a diverse range of people.
- The ability to work autonomously and as part of a team, and effectively manage time and prioritise workload.
